  1. "...the current test “just too easy,” arguing that it allows for people to be “coached” through the immigration process ..." Ugh, what do they think studying is? Are people just supposed to magically know the answers without learning?
  2. This is going to work amazingly well if you live in a big city like NY and people don't know their neighbors and nobody answers the door for ppl they don't know/aren't expecting. I'm sure the neighbor I complain to management about for smoking weed inside constantly is going to have glowing things to say.
  3. Formal adoption severs the legal relationship and the daughter is no more than a friend in the eyes of immigration. Whether or not this adoption was legal is a separate question that would need to be sorted out first.
  4. It's generally recommended that you do quarterly bank statements instead of monthly as it's sufficient but that is up to you. As for technical how-to's, you can learn this on your own w/ a google search and youtube.
  5. You could take this simple action and see if it works or you could not.
  6. If you don't have any red flags in your relationship or a criminal history by the beneficiary, your money would be better spent by paying for a consultation to ask all your questions and then doing the app yourself. You technically have to do it all yourself anyway, lawyers just fill in the boxes.
  7. Idk about in Columbia but there are blood tests to determine if you're already vaccinated.
  8. He submitted the package in early May, check was cashed w/in a few days of delivery, and said he got an email notification a couple days ago that "something was being sent in the mail." I presume it's the extension letter receipt.
  9. She can get insurance from the NJ state exchange.
  10. I just signed the i-751 as the USC spouse and noticed a biometrics clause for me on pg 8. I'm a natural born USC. I went back to the i130 and see it's on there too. Who gets called to do this? Is this just for those convicted of Adam Walsh crimes? I don't have any criminal record, aside from a traffic ticket or 2 a long time ago. I tried searching for this and there's many posts about spouses accidentally getting notices but nothing about actually having to provide. I'm uncomfortable with this for obvious reasons. https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/document/forms/i-751.pdf
  11. What kind of problems? What are your specific concerns?
  12. She can only travel abroad with AP or a green card. If she leaves without either, she cannot return, abandons AOS, and has to start over w/ consular processing.
  13. Did you read through any of these or contact the DOE? https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/Pages/Immunization/School/tk-12-immunizations.aspx https://www.cde.ca.gov/ls/he/hn/immunization.asp https://www.cdph.ca.gov/Programs/CID/DCDC/CDPH Document Library/Immunization/IMM-231.pdf Also, there's no good reason to not bring records. Your son may need them for something at some point.
  14. I'm having trouble following all this text-perhaps you can post a 1 line TLDR to summarize the question. I think you're asking about your healthcare tax credit. There's a IRS form to adjust for all the months you weren't married. https://www.irs.gov/forms-pubs/about-form-8962
  15. That is answered in that same link I sent before https://www.coveredca.com/learning-center/information-for-immigrants/public-charge/

  17. Lots of places force you into e-delivery nowadays or charge to have paper sent. My husband just prints everything at work for free anyway.
  18. We have a shared google drive folder and have been uploading all of these bills every month and every single other piece of anything that could be evidence. There's a google slide doc that we add 2 pics per page to. It most certainly will make everything easier. I cannot wait to never do this again for the rest of my life.
  19. I just filled this out yesterday. I just googled "health care proxy form [state]" and it was right there from the dept of health.
  20. Have your relative write up a lease with both your names on it.
  21. Whaaaa? Did they call and or visit or harass these people?
  22. New immigrants can buy on the exchange. Go to Iowa's (the real one, not all the fake ones that come up in a search) ACA exchange and price it out. https://www.healthcare.gov/immigrants/immigration-status/
  23. Make sure your state allows new immigrants on Medicaid. Most don't.
  24. I've seen Hacking himself suggest this on several occasions.
