Only EB1/EB2 update on NVC (DQ, IL)
sophie22 replied to snm2212's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
You are welcome! As for the system problem, I guess it must be due to NVC updating the system or something like that... Don't worry, it'll be back! I hope everything goes well! -
Only EB1/EB2 update on NVC (DQ, IL)
sophie22 replied to snm2212's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
The email you got is already the "interview letter". If you have any questions, I think it's best to ask the embassy directly. -
Maybe we can consider creating a google form survey, which will send the results to a google sheet automatically (instead of having to accumulate the results manually after searching people's posted timelines).

Only EB1/EB2 update on NVC (DQ, IL)
sophie22 replied to snm2212's topic in National Visa Center (Dept of State)
Congrats!! Actually, I later discussed this with other people; someone pointed to me that DOS allocates a visa number when they schedule an appointment. "Visa numbers are always allotted for all documentarily qualified applicants with a priority date before the relevant cut-off date, as long as the case had been reported to VO in time to be included in the monthly calculation of visa availability." (Last paragraph in page 2 of this document: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Immigrant Visa Control System_operation of.pdf) So I guess people who are included in the "monthly calculation of visa availability" actually already have a visa number allocated. And since the monthly calculation happens at the beginning of a month. (On the visa bulletin of September, one can find that the date was August 2nd). In the rare situation where the visa is eventually refused, this visa number will be returned to the pool. Otherwise, I think people with interviews scheduled in September should have their visas issued as usual. -

Yes, the immigrant visas won't be issued until October 1st. That's what DOS said in the link. -

The annual limits for EB1, EB3 & EW, and EB5 have all been reached, so if you are EB1/3/5 and you don't have an interview scheduled yet, chances are you'll need to wait until the new fiscal year (October). https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/annual-limit-reahed-in-the-eb-1-category.html https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/annual-limit-eb3-ew.html https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/annual-limit-eb5.html -
You should contact NVC (via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html ) to tell them about your situation and change your interview location from India to Canada.

Yes, you can transfer to your country of origin. I think you only need to contact NVC (via https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html ) to ask about the transfer. -

Welcome! That's indeed worrying... There was another data point in this tread that was DQ'ed in July 2023 and is still waiting. -

I just found this paragraph on the NVC inquiry webpage (https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html) concerning the interview scheduling: Note the first sentence, " The U.S. Embassy or Consulate tells NVC which dates they are holding interviews.", somehow I totally missed this before. So, I think if there is a delay in the interview scheduling, most likely it is due to the embassy. -
Only EB1/EB2 update on NVC (DQ, IL)

Not in Spain, but in Paris. Someone (with an EB2 case) in Paris who also DQ'ed in December 2023 but is still waiting for the interview letter. I'm not sure if this is a special case or if it's becoming a trend... (See the thread here: -

10 months is quite long. You said before that you contacted the Paris embassy and they told you your case is still at NVC. Did you email the embassy? Could you share the contact here? I wonder if it is because of the Olympics in Paris this summer or it's because of NVC not doing their work... -

Also, I don't know if this is possible, if the delay is due to the Olympics, perhaps one can try ask if it's possible to change to a consulate in nearby countries, like in Germany? Just a thought.. -

I see, 5.5 months is a bit frustrating, but it's good that both NVC and the embassy have confirmed that you are waiting in line. By the way, how did you contact the embassy? Is it through email? I wonder if the wait is because of the Olympics... Hopefully, you'll get the IL soon, keep us posted! -

I see. Is that guy also waiting for an interview in Paris? Hopefully, this one case doesn't reflect a general trend. 7 weeks seems not too bad, keep us posted if you receive the interview letter, I hope it'll come soon! -

I see. Then I must have misunderstood. I remember seeing a post saying their case status changed to "In transit" before they received the interview letter, that's why I had the impression that the interview scheduling happens after the case is sent to the embassy. I guess then, the correct order should be: one receives the interview letter from NVC while the case status remains "At NVC" -> case status then changes to "In transit" -> finally to "Ready"? -
What's your category, employment-based (EB) or family-based (FB)? Is your PD current? If yes, what's your case status? If your PD is current and your case status is still "At NVC", then this means NVC still hasn't sent your case to the embassy yet, you should contact NVC (via the NVC public inquiry form) to ask and remind them to do the transfer. It could be due to some mistakes by NVC (for example not realizing your PD is current). If the status is "In transit" it means it's being sent to the embassy. If the status is "Ready", it means the case is already sent to the embassy and ready for scheduling an interview. This should be the correct case status.

I see. Then it must be some mistake of the NVC. As soon as your PD is current, they should send your case to the embassy. After the embassy receives your case, they will start scheduling your interview. -

Oh wow, that's a long wait. What's your category? Is it family-based or employment-based? And, what is your case status? Is it "At NVC" or "Ready"? If it's the former, it means your case is still at NVC, and NVC has not sent your case to the embassy yet, in this case, maybe you should contact NVC to ask about it and remind them to do the transfer. (I assume your PD is current because if not, your case will stay at NVC) If it's "Ready", then it's at the embassy, and then the delay is because of the embassy, then this is not so good, perhaps try contacting the embassy? -

I see. It's good to know about the NIW case on Reddit you mentioned, December to today is 4 ~ 5 months, that's quite a long delay. Do you know what this person's case status is? If the case status is still "At NVC", that means NVC still hasn't sent his/her case to the embassy yet, in this case, maybe you can suggest to him/her to contact NVC (via the NVC public inquiry form) to ask why. It could be due to some mistakes by NVC (for example not realizing the case's PD is current). If the status is "In transit" it means it's being sent to the embassy. If the status is "Ready", it means the case is already sent to the embassy and ready for scheduling an interview, then the delay is due to the embassy. If this is the case, then that is indeed worrying. Perhaps it's worth contacting the Paris Embassy (I found the contact us page: https://ais.usvisa-info.com/en-fr/iv/information/contact_us But I'm not sure if they will reply). -

What is your priority date (PD)? Is your PD already current? I would expect the delay to be quite small, as there is not a lot of caseload in Paris anyway. There are always very few EB1/2 cases in Paris. See here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-statistics/immigrant-visa-statistics/monthly-immigrant-visa-issuances.html For example, in March 2024, there were only 7 EB1 and 10 EB2 visas issued in Paris: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/Statistics/Immigrant-Statistics/MonthlyIVIssuances/MARCH 2024 - IV Issuances by Post and Visa Class.pdf (It's written as "E1, E2" in the table, but they are EB1 and EB2 cases, not the non-immigrant E visa.) The low caseload also means the probability of finding EB1/2 people who are waiting for or recently finished their interviews in Paris on this platform is quite small. On another note, there could be some impact of the Summer Olympics on some non-immigrant visa processing, but I don't know if it impacts the immigrant visas processing, see the Question No. 10 here in this document: https://travel.state.gov/content/dam/visas/AILA/AILA Spring 2024 DOS Liaison Agenda 3-20-2024.pdf (Source: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/News/visas-news/department-of-state-aila-lilaison-committee-meeting-march-20-2024.html) -
I'm sure you'll get it soon, don't worry!

It's about a month, not that huge a delay, but if it becomes more than 2 months, then I'd say definitely contact NVC and USCIS (Emma) to ask about it.
