  1. I’m still on a J1, so I’ll have to get my J1 stamped when I go back to my home country (where I plan to travel) . My J1 expires in 06/2023. My H1B has not been filed yet, only my J1 waiver has been filed, and my employer plans to file the H1B in March after the paperwork for the waiver is complete. But I just wasn’t sure if it was safe to leave the country even while they were doing the waiver paperwork.
  2. Hello, my Conrad 30 j1 waiver got approved a few days ago and the application is now in the process of being send from Illinois department of public health to department of state. I believe after it gets approved from DoS my employer can file for an H1B on my behalf. Is it safe to travel outside the US while DoS approves my application? Or should I wait for my H1B to get processed and only then travel? What is a safe time to travel outside the country while the J1 waiver is in process? thank you.
  3. I was hoping for advise reg my situation. I applied for a specialist Conrad waiver position in Illinois last year but it did not get approved (apparently there were more than 30 applicants). I ended up extending my fellowship by another year. This year I’m applying for a PCP position again through Conrad waiver in Illinois state. My application was submitted on October 1, 2022, but I still haven’t received a response from IDPH. I’m a little concerned because last time they had sent their approvals/rejections on November 30 2021, but it took almost till mid December for the hospital lawyers to contact me reg the rejection. I don’t want the situation to repeat again this year. I have a couple of questions- 1. What is the best way to follow up from IDPH. My lawyers say we need to wait till mid December, but I feel that is too late 2. what is the usual Conrad 30 timeline for approvals/ rejections for illinois 3. Can I travel back to my home country while I wait for this? Till when is it safe to travel back. I do know that at some point during the transition from j1 waiver to H1B it is recommended not to travel. thanks all for your time.
