    No they won't but when I went to the US, I let them know that I have a green card application and if they ask about where you are in the process, I was always open and honest about being in AP.

    It doesn't affect the process at all, so request it back ASAP. It really depends I got mine after 4-5 days of requesting it.

    Hey folks! I was asked to submit a second medical and send my passport, which the consulate received both on August 16th. First question, not to get ahead of myself, but I remember my lawyer telling me to pay the Immigration fee before crossing. I looked it up and it said that I should have received a packet at the interview, which I didn't. And I did go through AP (DS5535), so would I get this packet or handout when my visa is actually issued? Any info on how to handle this is greatly appreciated. Second question, has anyone been asked to submit their passport and second medical but then got refused?? I shouldn't be thinking negatively but im so traumatized from the entire experience, id rather prepare myself mentally. Otherwise, any idea of timeline of when I can expect it to be issued after they receive all the documents? Again, thanks so much for the incredible community. I really don't know how I could have done this without you!

    Hey everyone, As some of you older members know, I had gotten AP (DS5535 almost a year ago) and the consulate finally asked for a new medical and to send in my passport. For those who have sent their passport with the courier service, I just want to double check what documents we need to send. In the email, it says include list of documents, but I dont see anything besides the courier-in authorization certification. Am I missing something?

    Hey guys! Some good news finally! After 9 months since my interview, they requested a new medical and my passport. Does this mean there's a light at the end of the tunnel? Ill be calling Telus health to rebook another dreaded apointment cause I can't seem to do it online. And checking courier instructions. however, I am travelling till beginning of august, is it ok to book my appointment for after? And how long does it take after I do the test and send my passport to issue the visa? Could there be any other obstacles or am I close to the end? Thanks for any insight.

    Hey everyone! Sent in my 3rd congressman request, still no news although they have been updating the dates. Last one was jan 17, no idea what that means.. I'm going to attempt crossing into the US to spend 2-3 weeks with my husband because his work won't let him travel for another 3 months and the distance is getting too much. Any idea what happens if they dont let me in? Would it affect my papers? Also in the hopes of being somehow optimistic, does anyone know anyone who has gotten their green card under a year after they received ds5535?

    Yikes. Will email them right away! Thank you! It's been 3 months since my interview, and my case has only been updated when I asked for my passport back from them. So not even sure anyone has started working on my file

    Hey guys! I was reading through some of the newer posts, and someone mentioned we shouldn't have any attachment to the DS5525 email. Ive travelled extensively for the past 15 years so it's impossible to add those in one email. I attached an excel file with all my travel records. Im freaking out now. Any advice on what to do? Will this be a problem? This visa process will seriously be the end of me..

    Quick update for you guys. So after my lawyer emailed the consulate asking about my passport, I first got an email saying that if I ask for my passport back, my visa will be on hold. Which made obviously no sense. One week later, I receive another email from the consulate saying that my passport was returned and I'll get more info from the courier service. Now in retrospect, I cant tell if the first email was automatic or someone misunderstood my case. Anyways got the email from the consulate before yesterday, and received an email today saying my passport is ready for pick up. They also updated my case to yesterday. I wonder if theyre working on my case or just updated it with the passport return. Has anyone went to the US after getting a DS5535? I haven't been to the US since I started my papers and I have some work trade shows I need to attend, I was wondering if it's a decision determined by customs or it's a definite no.

    I got a DS-535 but they kept my passport. I just don't understand how Im supposed to not have my passport for a year while they process my application... And then they say my application will be paused if I ask to retrieve my passport. Just doesn't make sense.

    Deprioritize is one thing, but they're saying "resume" the application, which I think is more concerning? I really dont know.. I really want to applaud everyone for their strength during this process. I'm personally really starting to lose it. but on the upside, that's some info my lawyer shared from an immigration conference he attended: The State Dept. rep. claimed “within 60 days” the AP situation will get better. The ex-Consular Officer yesterday also said they are now trying to better track AP cases to get them done faster. Hope so for all of us here! I've personally decided to ask for my passport back and my husband and I will be figuring out where else we can live in the meantime... We've been married for almost 2 years now and we still haven't been able to live together.

    I was requesting info to get my passport back while my application is in AP and that's what the officer said: Also note carefully again everything it says, including: “Along with your passport, you will receive a letter indicating the latest date you have to resume your application without the need to pay a visa application fee again. “ Does this mean my visa will be paused because I asked for my passport back?How does this make sense???

    See I was the opposite. I was approved by the consular offer and told in max 2 weeks ill have my visa, then I got home and received the DS535 a few hours later.. The emotional rollercoaster....I have no words.

    Has anyone who requested their passports during AP tell me please what the process is like please. What do I need to include in my email? And how long does it take to get it back from when I send the email? Thanks
