  1. Part 6, line 5 "Retired Since": My father is semi retired. He gets social security, but still works. Does he need to put a date for retirement or should it be left blank? Part 6 line 7, 10: I just want to make sure this is individual income and not the adjusted gross that is listed on the tax returns. Part 5 line1&3: im assuming i put 0 for 3 since my wife is already included in part 1.
  2. he is over 60. ill ask him if he gets anything in the mail, or if he has an online account. Im assuming the SS-1099 you get in October is for the same year, or is it for the following year? I don't have the necessary information, but I will have a video chat with him and try to help him get it.
  3. He still works part time, so he also has a w-2 and still files taxes. ive been asking him to get the benefits statements for this year (2023), but he says hes not sure how. Im assuming he has them, and just doesn't realize it.
  4. my father is going to be my joint sponsor, and we are trying to get all of the supporting documents. He receives a military pension, and social security. would the social security statement be the Form SSA-1099 or the SSA-1042S ? My dad isn't sure how to get the forms, and hes not good with computers. Its possible that he has them and just doesn't know what they are. can someone post instructions on how to get the VA and SS yearly benefits statement for 2023? im assuming that my dad has an online SS account.
  5. This is for Japan. everything is scanned in color, just not sure if theres a special order they should be in on the pdf.
  6. Just making sure I dont make any mistakes I have a family register that acts as a birth, and marriage certificate. My wife's family register is 2 pages. I found a translator through the Embassy website. I sent the translator pdf files of the family register. He mailed me the translation, along with a letter certifying the translation is accurate, and a colored printout of the family register his stamp and signature on them. In total i have Original family register (2 pages), translation (2 pages), copy of family register with translators signature and stamp. do i need to include the copies that the translator stamped? what order do I scan these in? Translators declaration, translation pg. 1, stamped copy pg. 1, original pg. 1, translation pg. 2, stamped copy pg. 2, original pg. 2 or Translators declaration, Translation pg 1&2, stamped copy pg. 1&2, original pg. 1&2
  7. They do file jointly. my father will be filing out the I-864 and his wife will be filing the I-864a. Is there going to be an issue with wanting to see original documents if they download their benefits declarations? Can you explain what you mean by Current income does not come from a tax return for them? I thought the tax returns were to show their gross income for a given tax year. My father is semi-retired and still gets a w-2. His wife has a W-2 for 2022 but only the first couple of months. would the benefits declarations be for their 2022 taxes, or do they get one for 2023?
  8. My father is going to be a joint sponsor on the I-864. He is semi retired, receives a military pension, and will be filling an I-864. His wife retired in 2022, and will be filling an I-864a. What forms would they submit as evidence along with their tax transcripts for their pension and social security? I did a quick google search and want to make sure I have the correct forms. My father would submit: tax transcript, W-2 and 1099-R His wife would submit: W-2 (for the part of the year she did work), and a SSA-1099 if she received any SSA Are these the correct forms, or are there any others they would need to submit?
  9. My wife just started seeing a Dr. for some depression after the birth of our kid. The Dr. said she might be bipolar. She just started seeing the Dr. so they cant officially diagnose her yet. I want to know what I need to keep track of now, so I don't miss anything. What documents and paperwork will I need? Anything I need to be careful about for the medical exam?
