Then you may change your name on the SSN card. If an SSA employee gives you a hard time (which is likely and unsurprising), have below ready and printed out when you go. Evidence of the name change would be your marriage certificate:

“A foreign-born person’s legal name is the name shown on his or her immigration document (includes hyphens and apostrophes).  The only time you may process an SSN application in a name that does not agree with the name shown on the immigration document is if the person legally changed his or her name after the immigration document is issued. In these situations, the legal name is the name shown on the evidence of the name change."

Thank you so much appreciate your help!

you cant. SS will ask for government Identification to change your name. its better to have all ID / paperwork the same for ur name anyway. if u want to change, change everything

I was planning to change everything since most of my government ID is about to expire this coming 2023 except green card cause its valid for 10 yrs and it would take me 1-2 yrs to be approve for name change in GC and pay a lot for it. Im eligible for naturalization after 2 yrs so it doesnt make any sense for me to do the name change on GC

Was the marriage certificate issued after your GC was issued? In other words were you issued your GC before you got married? The answer to this question will determine whether or not you can do that.

I got my green card because of my family a few years ago then i got married this year. So my marriage certificate was issued after GC
