  1. Hello everyone! I am so excited because my husband received his greencard today in the mail! However, I'm a little confused. I thought we were waiting for an interview date? But, we got a letter on Saturday congratulating him on becoming a permanent resident and saying that his greencard would be arriving soon. Then it arrived today (one day later)! I'm obviously not complaining, but why didn't we have to go to an interview? Just wondering!

  2. I have been calling and calling Civil Surgeons and NO ONE has heard of just having to have the vaccinations section filled out on the I693 form. They all keep telling me my husband will also need a physical and quote me high prices. Does anyone know of a Civil Surgeon in the Dallas area that is familiar with the AOS from a K-1 visa?? I have everything ready to go to send in our visa AOS packet. This is just so frustrating to be ready to go and every doctor's office I call thinks I'm crazy when I say my husband doesn't need a physical.

  3. My fiancé received his visa today from DHL! However, at the bottom of the visa under "Annotation" it says, "Petition valid through 04Jul2008." Does anyone know what this means? He is planning on arriving in the states July 5th or 6th. Will this cause a problem at the POE? The Visa expiration date clearly states 07Nov2008, but my fiancé is worried that he's going to have problems when he enters the country. Do all visas have this annotation??

  4. Hello! Just letting you all know that my fiancé was approved for his visa today! I was able to go with him to the interview and everything went well. I was really nervous and had to ask the interviewer to speak to me in English, but other than that, we passes with flying colors! We were only asked 3 or 4 questions and they didn't want to see any of our evidence of our relationship (after all of the preparing)! The last question we were asked was if my fiancé had ever been to the U.S. When he said yes, the interviewer looked it up on the computer and told us we were approved! My mouth dropped open and the interview laughed at me a little. Who knew it would be so easy!

Also, one thing that I was so worried about was the Affadavit of Support. I am an English teacher here in Chile, so I don't make much money, but we have my father as a co-sponsor. As I am in Chile, I couldn't have my affadavit notarized in the states, I left it unsigned so that I could sign it infront of someone at the embassy. Well, the guy who interviewed us didn't even have me sign it! He told us we were approved and I asked him if he wanted me to sign it. He proceeded to tell me that the affadavit isn't even necessary because the K-1 isn't an immigrant visa, meanwhile I'm standing under a big sign that says, "Immigrant Visas." But, I'm guessing we have to fill it out because we'll need it when we adjust our status. Oh well. A lot of worry over nothing!

I'm so glad we can put this part behind us! Good luck to everyone else! It's a nerve-racking experience, but you'll make it! I'll post a review soon! Thanks so much to everyone here.. even though I don't post much, I read a lot and would have been lost without this site!

  5. Hello all,

I will be accompanying my fiancee to the visa interview in Santo Domingo, DR. I have completed the I-134 with all supporting documents and now need to affirm it before a government official or notary. Since the consular has the applicants take the paperwork with them to the interview, can I do this at the time of the visa interview or is this frowned upon? Would it be better to have this sworn in before the interview? Any input would be appreciated. Thanks.

I was in the US Embassy here in Santiago, Chile, yesterday (March 26th) to pick up a copy of my fiancé's visa packet. I asked the lady who helped me about signing the Affadavit of Support and she told me just to bring it unsigned to the interview. So, that's what I'm going to do. I don't think it's a problem.

Has anyone else out there actually done this???

  6. I am hopefully sending out my I-129F packet tomorrow, but have a question. My fiance lives with his family, and their house is for sale. If he moves in between the time we start and finish the K1 process, will we be able to change his address with the USCIS? Also, when the U.S. embassy contacts him, will they call him or just send the packet of information by mail to the address listed in the I-129F packet? Does anyone know if it's possible for the embassy to send the packet to his work instead of his home address?

Thanks in advance for any info!
