  1. That makes sense. Thanks for the reply. I printed out the i-864, hand signed and rescanned it. I left all the other PDF docs just as they were sent to me from the translators. Got everything submitted and now we're waiting for review!
  2. On your timeline I see they gave you an interview in July. So a 5-1/2 month wait from DQ to interview? No updates yet from those with DQ in Feb? I'm looking at transferring my case to Cairo since my wife and I are now in Egypt, but I'm not too excited about a 5 or 6 month wait. And we'll need to prove residence here too, but we can get that if we register the kids in school here.
  3. Yes, in fact I listed Egypt as our current address as of April 2023 (only one month!) and was surprised to see that the NVC wants a police certificate from Egypt. Egypt issues plastic "Foreign Residence Cards" to tourists who've extended their tourist stays (can be up to one year). The card can be used a photo ID and it says "residence" on it, but whether it counts as a National ID is questionable. I'm going to ask at the police station here (since I am in Egypt) and if I get a clear answer I'll post here again. A comment on Google says that no one at the police station speaks English though...👮‍♂️😕
  4. Sure, there's no question of that, but NVC says they won't accept "modifiable" PDFs. What's their basis for acceptance or rejection? Everyone says printing and rescanning works, so I'm guessing their system is looking for image-based PDFs.
  5. Thanks for the suggestions. Makes me think the key here is to send image-based PDFs, like what you get when you scan a document and save as PDF, because they can't be "modified" the way a form-based PDF can. Another way to avoid printing and rescanning would be to open a PDF in Photoshop (if you have it), save out as an image file and then re-convert to PDF.
  6. They would not need a password to open and read the document, only to edit. I don't have a printer or scanner, and the nearest copy center is a 30-min taxi ride away, which is why I'm wondering if anyone tried sending docs with restricted editing.
  7. Hi everyone, I've read the threads about needing to print out, hand sign and rescan the i-864 form as a PDF, but what about other documents like translations? For example, I have PDF files from a translation agency that are editable in Adobe Acrobat (meaning I can select "Edit PDF" and all the text fields become editable). I'm assuming the NVC will reject those kinds of PDFs. I can restrict editing in Adobe Acrobat, though. The document will be openable and readable, but editing will require a password. Will the NVC reject it for being "password-protected" if I do that? Is it best to print out all the PDF translations and rescan as new PDFs? Thanks
  8. Ah, ok. Right. Just for clarity, you sent an i-129F to Texas in order to get a K-3? Did you have to pay the $535 filing fee twice (for the i-130 and i-129F)?
  9. Could be you just got very lucky. Who knows. Is there any logic in this process? USCIS says I still have approximately 5 months to wait their decision. But those are just statistics of course. Interesting that your "actively reviewing" status update came two months after submittal. They have been "actively reviewing" my petition since the moment I submitted it! Maybe someone accidentally deleted it? In any case, it's good news for everyone that you were able to transfer the case from Poland to Kazakhstan. I'm going to try my luck in Egypt.
  10. Congratulations! Glad for you! How long did it take for the i-130 to be approved and which processing center did it go to? I submitted online in June 2022, got a confirmation letter from the Texas processing center and haven't heard a word since. It's been almost seven months!
  11. Thanks for posting that link. Good to know the State Dept isn't blind and deaf to the issue. I would think that Turkey would be a logical alternative to Poland but who knows?
