  1. Hi everyone. I finally became a citizen 2 weeks ago and also changed my name. Based on what I found on the official websites, I decided to first update my social security card (I have to wait 7-14 days to get it) and then go change my ID and only then I will be able to apply for a US passport. Is this accurate? Can I just apply for a US passport using my naturalization certificate and my ID that is still under my maiden name? I assumed the ID has to have the name changed as well, but just want to make sure so I don't waste any time waiting. Thank you!
  2. Yes, I already said in my post that I have to go in front of a judge. By "regular ceremony" I meant to just go do the oath at USCIS and then change my name in court later. But no, they won't let me do this.
  3. I had my citizenship interview over a month ago and unfortunately I had no idea you could have your oath ceremony the same day. Since I wanted to get my name changed, the officer said I would have to go in front of a judge and they would schedule it at a later date. If I had any idea it could take a while, I would have just kept my name and would have changed it later... My question is: Would it be ok for me to call them and ask to be scheduled for a regular oath ceremony? Would they have a problem with it or it's best just to keep waiting? Thanks!!
