  1. Thank you - I will go ahead and upload them as long as I still have the chance to do so. It can't hurt.
  2. Actually, at the end of the DS-260 it asked if the applicant had help in filling out that form and I checked "yes" and put all my information there. My husband and stepson don't speak English well enough to be able to fill out that form themselves but obviously they gave me all the answers to the questions.
  3. After reading everything in this link it brought up another question. Since I’m filling out the DS-260 on behalf of my stepson and my husband, do I have to submit a DS-261 as their agent even though I’m the petitioner? When I filled out the DS-260 for my stepson, I did state towards the end that I completed the form as the petitioner.
  4. Thank you for this link. It says that proof of domicile is for petitioners who live overseas. I live in the U.S.
  5. I have a question about the proof of domicile docs you submitted. Were those required during the document submission process? I haven’t done this for my husband yet because I’m waiting for my fee payment to clear but I did the submission of my stepson’s documents and was not asked for proof of domicile documents.
  6. I’m so happy for you….I know how stressful this is….the struggle is real but we’ll get through this stronger and more resilient!
  7. That’s awesome now you should get your welcome email within the next 3 days.
  8. Submitted Stepson's Case: 3/9 (I just received my husband's NVC welcome email. I'll report that submission date as soon as I send it.)
  9. My prayers were answered at 3:27am - I finally got my husband's case number! I was approved before you so just hang in there....it's coming!
  10. Yes it'll be helpful to keep each other updated! Your approval date is the 8th but what is the date that your case was transferred to NVC - the same date? If it's the 8th, you should be getting your letter next week. I did submit everything to NVC for my stepson yesterday. I didn't think it was that bad - I'm glad I didn't hire an attorney for this round because it was easy enough to do by myself. Well, I shouldn't say that until I actually get DQ'd but I didn't think it was rocket science or anything. NVC's technology is very old but other than that, it's pretty straightforward.
  11. Hi! Unfortunately I have not received my husband’s welcome email yet. I sent an email inquiry to NVC yesterday so I’m waiting to hear back. It’s been 7 days since my cases were transferred to NVC. I’ve seen others waiting longer than this but it’s so strange to me that both cases went at the same time but only one got a case created. I’m trying not to freak out but after waiting 12-1/2 months to get approved I’m kind of over this whole process and would like to be done. When were you approved?
  12. @aaroncv3 why do I feel like you're my long lost twin? 😂😂😂
  13. I forgot to share this little tidbit I found today (this is for neurotic people like me who like to know every little detail of everything going on at either USCIS or NVC) - https://visawhen.com/nvc. Enjoy! 🤣
  14. Good luck - I hope you get DQ'd quickly! I'm over here stressing (once again) because I've only received the welcome email for my stepson's case and not my husband's - I don't know what's up with that but it's bringing on the same anxiety I had when waiting for USCIS to approve our case. It's only been 5 days since both cases were sent to NVC but why would they send one email right away and not the other? 😬
  15. Absolutely! At this point I would walk to Colombia to get whatever we need to get to the end of this process 😂
  16. It doesn't "expire" per se but the issue date becomes old after 6 months so whenever you are to present documents for any reason, you have to go and request them with a newer issue date stamped on them. It's ridiculous - I don't see any logic in that because my birth certificate has an issue date of 2017 on it and it's perfectly fine to use in the US. The other oddity with documents in Colombia is that whenever there's a change in your marital status (i.e., you get married or divorced), they hand write that information on your birth certificate (either in the notes section or on the back). So that's another reason for requesting a new birth certificate - we had to have our marriage notated on my husband's birth certificate in order for it to be valid for NVC and the interview at the consulate in Colombia.
  17. I got new ones only because in my husband's country (Colombia) they consider official documents to "expire" after 6 months so we got all new documents that had an issue date of March, 2023 stamped on them. I don't think this is so important for NVC but it will be when he goes to his interview at the consulate in Colombia and they look at his original documents. That's what I've heard from other filers from Colombia.
  18. The civil documents you send will depend on the country your spouse is from and your particular situation. The financial documents are IRS transcripts and W2s (they say for the last tax year but I'm sending 3 tax years, as recommended by many immigration attorneys). Follow this matrix to get an idea of what needs to be submitted: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition.html This is super helpful - just click on each step in the matrix and it will give you all the information you need.
  19. So I've only received the welcome letter for my stepson (I have 2 cases - one for my husband, one for his son). I paid the fees for my stepson and the bank just cleared them yesterday so I'm assuming I'll be able to start uploading documents for him soon. I'm getting worried about my husband's case - it was sent to NVC on March 3rd and still no welcome email. I'm waiting until Friday and I'll send them an email inquiry. I spent last weekend compressing all the documents I have because there's a 2MB size limit. That is no easy feat, especially with the documents that are several pages long and in color. Compressing them loses a lot of quality but after working with them for 8+ hours, I was able to get a decent product.
  20. Thank you so much!! I’m so glad you were able to go see your husband, especially for your anniversary. I hope we all get through all of this quickly!!
  21. How long did it take to get your NVC welcome letter (those of you who were approved by USCIS)? I ask because today I received my stepson’s welcome letter but not my husband’s. It’s only been 3 days since approval so I might be prematurely freaking out.
