  1. So eventually got my SSN by going to an SSA office and completing the forms after being here for 3 1/2 weeks and not hearing anything. Very helpful and the document arrived in the post about 10 days later. They said that the process hadn't been started so had to fill out a few forms and show proof of ID, visa and address (thank god I'd opened a bank account already) Still waiting on the Welcome Notice and the Green Card itself though. For anyone that's already landed and gone through this process, do you know if there's anyway to chase these or find out how long they take to get issued?
  2. I landed in the US on Wednesday with my IR1, and had similar experience at SFO being taken off to a secondary CBP room. Was asked to verify a few phone numbers and addresses, but nothing major. Also waiting to hear about the SSN and wondering if I can just go to the nearest social security office to get it.
  3. Congratulations! If his timeline is anything like mine, he'll get his passport back in 4-5 working days. I submitted mine in the Monday and got it back on the Friday.
  4. After much back and forth with the embassy, I finally managed to get the address changed. Submitted to a DX site on Monday, went to AP yesterday, then to Issued this morning. Fingers crossed I get passport back tomorrow or Friday
  5. Thanks @MarmiteC, that's what I was thinking as a fallback option
  6. For anyone who's used the courier service to send documentation or passports in, so you have any idea how long it takes to get to the embassy, or for documents to get back to you?
  7. So, had my interview on the 5th March, and got a 221g rejection due to the police clearance certificate from Hong Kong not being available. Turns out that it just wasn't sent from the US Embassy in Abu Dhabi (original case number was an ABD case) to London when the case got transferred. I am beyond annoyed. Hong Kong will only issue the certificates directly to embassies, not to you, so I never received it and was informed that it had been dispatched and CEAC seemed to say everything was okay. So now I've had to fly to Abu Dhabi, pick up the certificate, scan and submit it and send the original by courier. Now I'm in a situation that the courier address the US Embassy in London have is for an AirBNB I had booked, and now am not at. There is no way on the website to change the courier address after the interview and I'm getting a blank from my emails to the embassy, so no idea what to do now about submitting my passport. I can't have my passport sent to an address I'm not at, and I can't book the same AirBNB until May. Incredible frustrated and annoyed 😡
  8. Hi all, I've got my embassy interview next week, and just getting everything ready. For anyone who's done the interview, do they really want hard copy copies of everything in the USCIS i-130 submission, or is the NVC submission material sufficient? If it's the i130 submission, I think I'm bringing a suitcase of material!
  9. Hi everyone, For those people who have already gone through the interview process in London, realistically, how long does it take them to get your passport back to you?
  10. Congrats @lvjeremylv and @Speedy troy for getting the DQ - now just the medical and interview to go, you're on the home stretch. After getting the DQ it took about 10 days for my interview letter to be sent through. You can't schedule your medical until you've got this, but you'll probably be given an interview slot about 6-8 weeks out, so you'll have plenty of time to get it done beforehand.
  11. Cheers Marmite They've given me the 29th November, but going to ask to move it to February as we only want to move in July (tie-in to end of school years)
  12. Hi all, Just received my IL (yippee!!!!!), and have gone to register as directed on the email. When doing that I get a message along the lines of "entered case number is not ready for scheduling". Did anyone else get this, and how long did it take to actually sort out so I can reschedule my appointment, and book my flights and medical?
  13. You need to land in the US within 6 months of the visa being granted AND have a medical report that is less than 6 months old. I think there's also something about the police report from your home country not being older than 12 months old.
  14. Still waiting to hear back on that one. If that doesn't work, my wife is trying to get her US transfer agreement with her work sorted out this week, so hopefully can send a copy of that document and that will suffice. If not, we're enrolling the kids in school there for next year (enrollment doesn't open until February) so hopefully the correspondence with the school will work. That'll end up showing 5 separate pieces of evidence, so surely that must work.
  15. Thanks. I've downloaded a couple of them now and struggling to get them to recognise the NVC case number starting LND (except Lawfully, which does pull the data back). The two others accept the old USCIS number, but not the NVC numbers - any tips on how you got it to do that?
  16. Which case tracking app are you using? I'm using Lawfully, which was great for the USCIS stage, but less useful for the NVC stage.
  17. I was DQ'd a while ago, but just received an RFE for my wife's domicile (we're living together overseas, and have been for the last 10 years). Struggling to figure out what evidence they want - can show US bank accounts, still a registered voter, uses parents mailing address for statements etc. Unfortunately her US driver's licence expired a couple of years ago, and she never got around to renewing, so can't show that. What else can we do to satisfy the domcile requirements? We're going to be registering the kids to go to school there, but can't do that until Feb when the registration window opens up. Anyone else had this issue? Or any tips?
  18. Hi Speedy, First, check your spam. Mine got sent there. If it's not there, go to the Ask NVC page, here: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html
  19. Our DQ cane through last night, after just 10 days at NVC, so hopefully seeing everyone else's starting to come through soon as well: PD: 09/12/2022 AR1: 09/13/2022 AR2: 08/03/2023 Approval: 08/04/2023 Welcome Letter: 08/08/2023 Paid fees: 08/10/2023 Payment processed: 08/15/2023 Submit Documents: 08/22/2023 DQ: 08/31/2023 Now just got to wait for the interview date. Already feeling like a pin cushion having just got all my vaccinations up to date for the medical.
  20. You need to fill out either I-184 or I-184EZ. As we're both outside the US we had to go with the full I-184. If you have joint sponsors then I-184A comes into play and everyone who is a sponsor will need to complete that as well. We don't, so this didn't apply to us. No idea about the I-184W. You can find most of the info here: https://www.uscis.gov/green-card/green-card-processes-and-procedures/affidavit-of-support and https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/immigrate/the-immigrant-visa-process/step-1-submit-a-petition/i-864-affidavit-faqs.html
  21. Longer than we expected. About 4 working days I think. We did the payment on the Thursday and saw the status change the following Wednesday.
  22. Depends on which embassy your looking at. In the UAE the embassy runs a telegram channel where they publish which months DQ they're currently processing. Currently they're interviewing DQ from Sept 2022. UK seems to be fairly consistently about 4-8 weeks. I assume this info would be available from NVC or the embassies?
  23. And now it's just a waiting game. Feels like waiting for someone, somewhere to respond is 99.9% of this whole process. Fingers crossed it's just a short wait to get the interview scheduled
