if there was an issue , the CO asks for joint sponsor
the CO has the final say on income/ the Co gave us a hard time because i don't pay taxes on a good part of my anunity, SSA and retirement and i am way over the limits
Yes, I believe SSA, or self employed income can trigger more questions in many scenarios, but again each case is unique and different and as you said, it's up to the officer to ask for more evidence or for a co sponsor. In my case, all my income was under W2 and it's well above the limit.
