    I just pulled up the I-130 PDF and there's no question anywhere on there about a social security card. 🤷🏻‍♂️ Can someone direct me to the page it would be? Or would it have been after the I-130, during the NVC portion of the process?

    It was a year and a half ago so I wouldn't swear to it, but I'm sure we did tick the box to have it issued. I guess I can pull up the PDF and look?

    So my wife rang the SS office today, and they told her that there's no record of her having applied for a SSN. Where did we go wrong? 😭

    The $220? Yes, we paid that about a month before we entered the US. We don't remember getting any information about it when her passport was returned to her. Do you know if it's information that we can find online? Mostly I'm just worried that something is wrong. If it's in process and it just takes a while that's fair enough, but we like to panic 😂 Is the same true of the SSN? That it can take 90 days?

    My wife landed here in the States on March 20th and so far no green card has been sent. Does anyone know how long it's taking? And is there a way we can check on the status of it? Better yet, does anyone know who we can call to speak to someone about it? Thanks!

    Whatever civil documents you uploaded to the system during the NVC submission, take those. And make sure it's the exact documents. For example. When we were uploading the information for my wife, we could only find her short form birth certificate, so that's the one we uploaded. In the meantime we located her long form certificate, so when it came time for the interview we took it instead, thinking since it has more detail that it would be better. No. They needed to see the one we uploaded, so she had to submit it after the fact. So yeah any civil documents you uploaded is what they're looking to see. Good luck!

    You can do the medical after. But yeah it is much easier and less stressful to have everything in place and then the interview is the last thing. You get approval then you're good to go, no more needing to wait and worry.

    Been in this forum for 18 months and this is the first time I've ever seen the term "pre-interview" mentioned. Who told you that a pre-interview would be performed, the unhelpful lawyer?

    My wife had her medical in December and she had to provide hers.

    Just an update to this. Had the interview on Monday and the only paperwork they wanted to see were the civil documents that were uploaded (marriage cert, passport, divorce stuff, birth cert, etc). No financial paperwork nor anything pertaining to the affidavit of support was mentioned. Individual results may vary.

    About 4 weeks, but that was a few months ago now and included a slight delay when we had to correct a mistake.

    You're referring to the DS-260 and affidavit of support documents? And you've already had your i-130 approved? If so, I believe I received my wife's DQ 3 weeks after we submitted documentation for DS-260 and the affidavit of support. That took a little longer than it would have because we had to resubmit a couple of things that we did wrong initially. After that, it took 2 weeks to get the interview date. So if your timeline parallels ours, you should get your DQ later this month, and you'll probably have a February interview. But that's of course just speculation and assuming everything checks out with your documents that you submitted.

    Thanks for sharing! Sounds pretty straightforward and painless. So were those all the documents you took, the passport, birth certificate, marriage certificate, police record, and biometrics? What exactly were the biometrics? I read on the US gov site that you don't need to bring any financial papers to the interview, and that you just need to bring the civil documents that were uploaded during the NVC portion of the process. I'm guessing that's accurate since you didn't mention those? Thanks in advance for the feedback!

    Thanks for the feedback. My wife picked up the paperwork from her GP on Monday, and it's 5 pages (front & back) with her whole medical history. Medications, information about previous visits, vaccination records, stuff about a couple of procedures she's had done, etc. Is this not what the doctor will want to see? You say that the doctor told you there wasn't the correct info that he wanted to see about you. Is there something specific he was wondering about that you didn't provide?

    Gotcha, thank you for that. Are there paths for students? She got her Masters last year - if she were to pursue a doctorate or something in a different field, would that be an option? Or is she too old?

    She had turned 18 earlier in the month that we got married (September 2017). So that's not good, lol. What happens if we get to the US, my wife petitions for her, and during that 8-9 year wait she gets married? Would she then be ineligible? Or would it not be applicable since she was unmarried at the time of the filing?

    I am the US Citizen, and my UK citizen wife and I are close to the end of the IR1 process (my wife's interview is January 8th). Once the process is over and we move from the UK to the US, is there a path for my wife's daughter to come live with us? She is unmarried, 24 years old, and has lived in the UK her whole life. What would the possible path(s) be for her to join us down the line? I know if there's a way it likely will take a long time. Thanks for any guidance!

    Just an update, that after about 10 days of checking almost constantly, we were able to get a date secured. I didn't check at all yesterday, and thought I would check just for fun, and there were several dates in January with availability. We're all set for January 8th. So it's progress

    On November 6th, my wife was given an interview date (also December 20th) that is no good for our schedule. We went online and registered it with the website per the e-mail instructions, and once it was registered we were able to cancel it. Only then can you reschedule it. We checked for the past 10 days and finally this morning we were able to get a new one scheduled, for January 8th. I'm pretty sure that you won't be able to get it rescheduled any earlier than your given date, but you can check into that to see.

    Yeah mine said that for a few weeks before being approved. What date did you apply?

    Anticlimactic is right up my alley. After years of immigration paperwork, decisions, and thousands of dollars/pounds paid, I am not looking for anything exciting. Just get us in and out with an approval and let me find the nearest Chipotle 🥰

    Yeah I kinda thought vaccinations would be a speed bump for some. We think she's had them all - we're going to sit down and make sure soon, but she had all of the ones you're "supposed" to get as a child, then the COVID stuff. For her job she was required to get a hep B shot, which is one that I think some people normally don't get, and last week she had her flu jab. Hopefully that'll be good on that front.
