  1. My partner and I are filing for a divorce and need to cancel the i130 petition. It is still in the processing phase, didn't go to nvc or anything, but it was filed online. i only find instructions about sending a letter to the NVC. Is there an easier way?
  2. We happen to be missing the original letter, mu husband just sent it without making a copy. Is there a problem if we write another one? I could do it easily explaining the situation
  3. Sorry I didn't get the RFE bit, I might get one because of name differences? We kept our names the same after the marriage I'll write to the embassy right now, thanks for the advice!
  4. As the title says - my husband and I applied for the CR1 a little after we got our K1 NOA2. Before applying for the CR1, my husband sent a notarized letter to USCIS clarifying the situation and formally withdrawing from the K1 application. He didn't get any confirmation letter or anything from them yet (and we don't even know if we ever will). Today we got an email from the embassy in my country with the instructions for me to prepare for the K1 interview. My first thought was to just ignore it but now I wonder if ignoring it will mess up our CR1 application in the future. Should I update the embassy or try getting in touch with USCIS? Or both? Thanks in advance!
  5. Yep, reading the responses on my previous topic and on this new one made me realize I'm really going overboard haha Thank you, I'll keep it simple for now!
  6. What a relief - I overinterpreted the advice and got myself confused. Thank you!
  7. Hello! My husband and I are organizing some evidence of bonafide marriage and I'm a bit insecure of not having enough material to provide. We were applying for a k1 visa(noa2 emitted in june) and decided to give up, get married and apply for the cr1. Apparently, mentioning the k1 visa could hurt our application, so I also shouldn't use any of the pictures used in that application? I thought about using some of it to show that our relationship pre-marriage is real. We have pictures of our wedding passports stamps of my recent trip to the us, and his trip to brazil last year (the time between the his visit and mine is almost 1 year apart, is that a problem?) chat and video screenshots with time stamps along the year and after our marriage (i came back to brazil) tickets of our traveling together in brazil and in the US his temporary residency card from the time we lived together in brazil I thought about uploading a contract of renting the house that we lived together in 2018, but it doesn't have his name in it, only mine. I can add him to my life and health insurance at my current work as my dependent using our marriage certificate, but we're not currently together and he's not living in Brazil at the moment. Is it worth it to seek these documents? My worry is that we don't have enough post wedding material to provide, since we're in different countries. Sorry if this is a similar question to some of my previous posts, questions just keep popping up every step of the way!
  8. Just another question still on this topic - My husband, the petitioner needs to mention the K1 in here, right? and then we need to provide additional context? because in our case we got the NOA2 to the K1 but then chose to get married instead, automatically withdrawing. I'm confused whether to add this information or not
  9. Nice, I havent thought about the passport stamps, thank you! Just checked money transfers off of the list as well, good to know. 🥲
  10. Just to confirm, should I not mention the K1 process at all, or just leave the withdrawal letter out? I don't want to hurt the process with a mistake like that Also, thank you so much for the advice!
  11. Hi! I got married a couple of weeks ago in the US and came back to my country of residence. My husband and I don't have kids or any joint accounts, lease contracts or anything yet, and I don't know exactly what to add as evidence, or what would be enough. So I have a few documents in mind: - We applied to a K1 visa last year and decided to withdrawal. A couple of days after our wedding he got the NOA2 in his house - so we're thinking about attaching the NOA2 and his letter withdrawing from the K1 process (that kinda counts as a bona-fide relationship at least, no?) - pictures of our wedding; - flight tickets to see each other - paypal and wise money transactions (?) - we lived together from 2018/2021 - should I get the contract of that rented apartment? What else should I add? Thanks in advance!
  12. Thanks everybody for the responses. I was just worrying that the processing time was floating to even higher than it is at the moment, but I'll solidify my peace with the two year planning haha Also, sorry for starting a duplicate post on another post!
  13. I'm in the process of gathering documents for the cr1 now myself, that period of two years is like a best case scenario thing (No RFE, etc)? I've applied for a k1 before and it took 13 months to be approved and then sent to the NVC - in the case of the CR1, should I expect the processing time to get longer? Edit: I know it's not a fast process but now I'm wondering if it's even longer than I imagined. My husband is an US citizen!
  14. Hello! My fiancé and I decided to married while our K1 visa application was being processed. I went to visit him with a tourist visa, we got married and I'm now back to my country to keep working and so on. I know this voids the k1 application, as we're now ineligible, and we're ready to start over with the CR1 application, but I worry that this could overlap and mess up our process. He will write a letter to the USCIS withdrawing from the k1 application anyway, so should we wait for an official response before applying to the CR1? I've seen instructions to attach the k1 withdrawal letter (and a posting number, if already sent) with the CR1 application, but I'm not sure if this still applies. Also, should this withdrawal letter be sent to the same address we've sent the k1 application? Thanks in advance for any advice!
  15. Sorry for using this space to rant, but I get really sad when thinking about k1 and cr1 visas, really. Been thinking about giving up k1 and applying for cr1 instead because I don't want to leave my job. The idea of being 6 months without work in the US, stranded without visiting my friends and family is so grim, even though the k1 process makes more sense for my relationship right now... everyday we know less about what to do, or how to move on with our decisions confidently. But we keep going!
  16. Yep, I've been to that thread! my only concern is if it would be a problem to get married while on a tourist visa! I mean, if it could mess up my future entries when I say I'm visiting my husband. But now it's much clearer, thank you!
  17. Thank you for the answer. My fiancee can't quit his job and won't have available vacation days for a while. I already have a tourist visa, and no intentions of overstaying my visit! So basically it would just be trial and error at this point?
  18. Hey guys I've been in the k1 process for a while but it won't be possible to quit my job after the whole thing is done, and I don't want to be unemployed in the US for so long. My fiancee and I are thinking of withdrawing and getting married when I go visit him in the us next month, so we can apply for the cr1. I will come back to my country and plan on visiting again in the summer, after we apply for the cr1. Would this impact my entry in the country next time I go? What would be the best way not to be accused of fraud or anything like that? I just want to be able to visit him while we wait for this process to be done since my work schedule is felxible, and his is not. Ps: I'm not in a hurry to move to the US but I would like to see him every couple of months or so, would that be difficult? Thank you
