LLL_ reacted to Chancy in Income requirements for I864 application
*** Moved from IR1/CR1 Progress Reports to IR1/CR1 Process & Procedures ***
If the assets are valued over 3x the minimum requirement for the household size, then it can be used on the I-864 with $0 income. But keep in mind that it is up to the consul officer to decide whether it is sufficient or not. Though it is not a rule, some COs prefer US-based assets, so best to transfer the savings to a US account if you still have a long time from the interview date.

USCIS does send letters/notices to foreign addresses. But as mentioned above, you may have higher chances of actually receiving those letters/notices in a timely manner through a relative's or friend's US mailing address.

If you enter the USA on your spousal visa after the 2nd Marriage anniversary, you are eligible for a 10-year green card. If they make a mistake and send you a 2 year card, you can file a i-90 (no fee) with the 2 year green card. And reason (D) is free to file; "My existing card has incorrect data because of Department of Homeland Security error"

Because the actual receipt of mail to the US address is reliable. Many who use a foreign mailing address never see any mail from USCIS. If I used my address in the Philippines, I might see the mail in about a year. There are a number of advantages to using a US mailing address even if it is a friend or relative. My US Mailing address is my Daughter's address. Very handy.
Of course the forms have a place for separate mailing and physical addresses, for good reason(s)

If you are married less than 2 years when you enter the U.S you will be issued a CR1, if you enter after you've been married for 2 years-IR1.

Yes. If entry into US is after 2 years of marriage, the visa holder should receive a 10 year green card.... regardless of what the visa says.

LLL_ got a reaction from SalishSea in Regarding I130 filing
Hello.
Recently my husband(US citizen) is trying to file I130 petition for me. We both are living abroad as of now. In the I130 form, there's a question about mailing address. I was wondering should I put my current address which is a foreign address, or is it okay if I put my friend/relative's US address as the mailing address? Which one is preferred or what differences will it make?
Thank you very much!
