DECEMBER 2021 1-129F K1 FILERS
Sha-Lee88 replied to J&D1008's topic in K-1 Fiance(e) Visa Case Filing and Progress Reports
I hope they actually send them to NVC at that 90 day mark. I am at day 79 right now. So, close...maybe??? -
Does anyone know why the NVC is receiving so few cases this month? Based on VJ Stats, only 12 people have reported an NVC Received Date in May. That seems really low. My NOA2 is 3/14/2023 putting me at 71 days since petition approval. Why is the NVC processing so slowly? I thought the backlogs were with the USCIS, not the NVC. Any thoughts?

Thanks. I was looking at VisitorsCoverage after reading about it in this Forbes article: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/travel-insurance/parents-visiting-usa/ I was going to just purchase their top package, INF Elite. Seems like it covers pre-existing conditions. https://www.visitorscoverage.com/visitor-health-insurance/quotes

I actually saw that same article and called the number earlier today. I got a lady who said 90 days, bring a doctor's letter with letterhead explaining the prescription amounts and what they are for. Then, bring a copy of the prescription and copies of the visa and bio page from the passport. Put the meds on the declaration, put them in the carry-on (which I thought was surprising because now TSA has to check them), and present it all to the CBP officer at customs.

Thanks for the response. 300+ pills seems to be a lot to me. Again, she does have a legitimate prescription, but perhaps being from a West African doctor may make it more suspect. The other issue is that the labels on the prescription boxes are hand-written, at times, in Ghana. They don't all have the printed labels for the packages like we have here in the States. Perhaps I am just too concerned about xenophobia in this regard.

Greetings, My fiancée will be arriving in the states under our K-1, hopefully this summer. When she arrives, she will need to take medications with her. Some of them are prescribed, others are over the counter, sans a prescription. One of the meds she has is a Schedule IV opioid, Tramadol. Her prescription for a 90 day supply would entail over 300 of these pills. As you can imagine, I am deeply concerned that showing up with that many Schedule IV pills may lead Customs to not allow her into the country. My initial thought is to tell her to not bring any, despite how she needs them for pain. She can get letters from her doctors and the prescriptions, but I'm still worried that she would be denied entry. Has anyone else ever dealt with a similar situation? How was it handled? What amount is reasonable? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.

I am just telling you what the lady at the USCIS told me today. That's what she said. -

I was told today by someone at USCIS that you should wait until the 4 month expiration date passes. Then, have the Beneficiary contact the embassy or consulate with the receipt number to ask for an extension. She said not to extend until it expires. It's a scary thought that something may delay the process or change the approval at that point. What else can we do though? -

NOA1: 12/21/2021 NOA2: 3/14/2022 NVC Rec: TBD I too am still waiting on NVC to receive my case. Day 64 for me, post-NOA2. -
I spoke with an agent at USCIS. The petition is still at the California Service Center, and hasn't been updated since the filing of the petition. They did confirm the NOA2. They advised me to wait until 90 days have passed. At that point, I can call back and a agent will submit a service request to find the petition and send it to NVC. I imagine that the NVC is so back-logged that they are telling the service centers to hold onto the petitions until they can physically receive more of them. Regardless, I will see which one happens first; NVC contacts USCIS to locate it, or the 90 days is up and I call the USCIS. I'm hoping for the former.

I got a response from NVC. They said they do not have record of receiving the approved petition from USCIS. They will contact USCIS to determine the location of my petition. I don't need to do anything else at this time. Anyone else have this happen? How was it resolved? Did they actually get back to you? I will call the USCIS to see what they say.

NOA2 of 3/14. I wonder why it is taking so long at NVC now? Our 60 days is this Saturday. I will send an email to the research dept at NVC to inquire. I have sent an inquiry every week since day 30 with nothing but the generic "we don't have it yet" response. I also see that some people with NOA2 in April are already getting their cases received. What's up with that?
