  1. I'm on day 83. Called USCIS. The rep said that it should be received by NVC by the 90th day. Let's hope that holds true. She also gave me some NVC insight: the NVC is so backlogged, they have told USCIS to NOT send any approved petitions until they are close to the 90day mark, post NOA2.
  2. Why do you need to wait for Packet 3 from the Embassy? Someone in another thread said you can fill out and submit the DS-160, conduct your medical, and schedule the interview as soon as NVC status is changed to "Ready".
  3. I hope they actually send them to NVC at that 90 day mark. I am at day 79 right now. So, close...maybe???
  4. Called USCIS today. Still hasn't been sent to NVC. Day 78 now (NOA2 on 3/14). They told me to call back if I don't get it by day 90.
  5. Does anyone know why the NVC is receiving so few cases this month? Based on VJ Stats, only 12 people have reported an NVC Received Date in May. That seems really low. My NOA2 is 3/14/2023 putting me at 71 days since petition approval. Why is the NVC processing so slowly? I thought the backlogs were with the USCIS, not the NVC. Any thoughts?
  6. Congrats to everyone getting theirs today. I've still no email from NVC (March 14th NOA2). Please be sure to update your Timelines!
  7. According to the Public Inquiry Form...applicant = Beneficiary. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/visa-information-resources/ask-nvc.html "This is the person who is going to immigrate to the United States. Please enter the name as it appears on his or her passport."
  8. Thanks. I was looking at VisitorsCoverage after reading about it in this Forbes article: https://www.forbes.com/advisor/travel-insurance/parents-visiting-usa/ I was going to just purchase their top package, INF Elite. Seems like it covers pre-existing conditions. https://www.visitorscoverage.com/visitor-health-insurance/quotes
  9. Great. She will arrive at IAD, and then take a domestic to either ORD or MSP. Then one final puddle-jumper to my hometown. So, 1 international flight ACC to IAD, and 2 domestic flights. All via United.
  10. Pills are 100mg each. She takes 400mg per day for fibromyalgia.
  11. She is on 400mg of Tramadol a day for fibromyalgia. It has been diagnosed in both South Africa and Ghana. She has a long history of it, with medical records to prove it. But, 4 100mg pills per day for a 90-day stay is a lot of pills, nonetheless.
  12. Our plan is to use her travel insurance to see my doctor when she arrived. Sign up for a primary care appointment and exam. Then, let him decide on how to handle it. She will have her doc send the medical records ahead of her arrival.
  13. I actually saw that same article and called the number earlier today. I got a lady who said 90 days, bring a doctor's letter with letterhead explaining the prescription amounts and what they are for. Then, bring a copy of the prescription and copies of the visa and bio page from the passport. Put the meds on the declaration, put them in the carry-on (which I thought was surprising because now TSA has to check them), and present it all to the CBP officer at customs.
  14. Thanks for the response. 300+ pills seems to be a lot to me. Again, she does have a legitimate prescription, but perhaps being from a West African doctor may make it more suspect. The other issue is that the labels on the prescription boxes are hand-written, at times, in Ghana. They don't all have the printed labels for the packages like we have here in the States. Perhaps I am just too concerned about xenophobia in this regard.
  15. Greetings, My fiancée will be arriving in the states under our K-1, hopefully this summer. When she arrives, she will need to take medications with her. Some of them are prescribed, others are over the counter, sans a prescription. One of the meds she has is a Schedule IV opioid, Tramadol. Her prescription for a 90 day supply would entail over 300 of these pills. As you can imagine, I am deeply concerned that showing up with that many Schedule IV pills may lead Customs to not allow her into the country. My initial thought is to tell her to not bring any, despite how she needs them for pain. She can get letters from her doctors and the prescriptions, but I'm still worried that she would be denied entry. Has anyone else ever dealt with a similar situation? How was it handled? What amount is reasonable? I would appreciate any advice. Thanks.
  16. I am just telling you what the lady at the USCIS told me today. That's what she said.
  17. I was told today by someone at USCIS that you should wait until the 4 month expiration date passes. Then, have the Beneficiary contact the embassy or consulate with the receipt number to ask for an extension. She said not to extend until it expires. It's a scary thought that something may delay the process or change the approval at that point. What else can we do though?
  18. NOA1: 12/21/2021 NOA2: 3/14/2022 NVC Rec: TBD I too am still waiting on NVC to receive my case. Day 64 for me, post-NOA2.
  19. I spoke with an agent at USCIS. The petition is still at the California Service Center, and hasn't been updated since the filing of the petition. They did confirm the NOA2. They advised me to wait until 90 days have passed. At that point, I can call back and a agent will submit a service request to find the petition and send it to NVC. I imagine that the NVC is so back-logged that they are telling the service centers to hold onto the petitions until they can physically receive more of them. Regardless, I will see which one happens first; NVC contacts USCIS to locate it, or the 90 days is up and I call the USCIS. I'm hoping for the former.
  20. I got a response from NVC. They said they do not have record of receiving the approved petition from USCIS. They will contact USCIS to determine the location of my petition. I don't need to do anything else at this time. Anyone else have this happen? How was it resolved? Did they actually get back to you? I will call the USCIS to see what they say.
  21. I sent another follow up email to nvcresearch@state.gov. I am hoping to get a response this week.
  22. Yeah, I saw two that had NOA2 dates in April that already have NVC received dates.
  23. NOA2 of 3/14. I wonder why it is taking so long at NVC now? Our 60 days is this Saturday. I will send an email to the research dept at NVC to inquire. I have sent an inquiry every week since day 30 with nothing but the generic "we don't have it yet" response. I also see that some people with NOA2 in April are already getting their cases received. What's up with that?
