    Congratulations on your approval. I think you should send a copy of the approval from USCIS to the office where your case is being adjudicated with a copy of your receipt notice for I-485 since that may be the likely reason your case is pending. You are fortunate your case was not denied outright since you did not have a basis to adjust your status before hardship waiver approval.

    I wish we could know how many hardship waivers are pending at DoS since January 2022

    Nope. The most recent waiver statistics available is for year 2021 on the website. Nothing for fiscal year 2022 and fiscal year 2023 is almost coming to a close.

    I don’t think you did anything wrong. I have no clue what’s going on. Almost all the cases being approved are the “No objection” Waivers. Hardship waiver I think is down the pecking order. It’s really sad.

    I have a positive feeling that a lot of people will get decisions on pending J-1 hardship waivers this month since the 2023 fiscal years closes on 9/30/2023. Fingers crossed.

    Does DoS request for sponsor view if you are a foreign physician who came on J-1 visa and did your residency in the USA. I did a congressional enquiry and was told that as far as they have received my I-612 and I-613 from USCIS, my file is complete and in the queue to be processed when they get to it.

    The notice from USCIS is more important for adjustment of status since that’s where the final decision for J-1 hardship waiver comes from. DoS gives their recommendation and USCIS decides. How long did it take you to get a decision after DoS received your I-612/613?

    Yes. I am looking forward to the J-1 waiver statistics report for 2022 which shows how many hardship waivers were adjudicated and the outcome.

    The group has been silent for a while. Is anyone getting their cases approved recently? My file has been complete at DOS since Sept 2022. The wait is very exhausting.

    My wife and I have been married since June 2019. We filed taxes jointly for the first year but decided to file “married but filing separately” on our subsequent taxes. We both make good money. Will filing taxes under “ married but filing separately” have any impact on her being my sponsor for the I-130 application? She’s USA citizen. Thank you in advance
