  1. Did you file for EAD for the child? Typically this is what needed to get SSN after AOS forms are filed.
  2. Thanks for the report! I personally think one should have a realisitic expectation. If it says up to 24 months, one should prepare for 24 months VS being dissapointed and worried if card doesn't arrive within a year. With USCIS it's hard to know. For example, my I-751 took 20.5 months instead of 7 months according to processing times when I filed. If I was too hopeful for 7 months processing, it would have made my wait a lot harder....
  3. AFAIK, only LPRs and citizens can get GE card, even if a foreign national like UK citizen can get GE on work visa. That's why I was asking about when you got GE whether you were LPR or not. Thanks for the update!
  4. Interesting, is this covered in their FAQ? Or how did you learn it?
  5. When you applied for GE, were you already a permanent resident? If not, have you updated GE after becoming resident? I updated them a while ago after getting 2 year GC, then after 10 year GC, as I enrolled in GE under work visa.
  6. You can do it after logging in to travel portal dashboard (https://ttp.cbp.dhs.gov/dashboard): Before replacing card, you need to update citizenship status with Global Entry. The $25 fee for card replacement wasn't covered by credit card, unfortunately.
  7. @Aoife&Cam he answered "No" to all questions, but were all answers truthful?
  8. Understandable, still should have booked flights only after getting ESTA approved. Good luck and keep us posted!
  9. Agreed, flights should only be booked after visa in passport is issued.
  10. File separately (cannot file single when married) only makes sense in very narrow use cases. Most of the time, one gets better tax break and potentially refund when filing jointly. I don't understand why this debate even exists 😃
  11. Congrats! I know how difficult it is to open first credit card, and it's super helpful for building the credit.
  12. You have nothing to do, and you aren't liable for your spouse's taxes especially once divorced.
  13. From: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/passport-help/faqs.html?hl=en-US "If you have been waiting more than four weeks for your documents, call 1-877-487-2778 to report that you have not received your documents. If you want us to reimburse you for a lost supporting document, you must contact us within 90 days of the date which we mailed your passport. You will also need to provide a receipt to show the cost of replacing the document. " I realize the docs weren't lost, but this is the closest match for your situation.
  14. You can always apply. Whether you'll get it or not is a separate question nobody can give you guarantees on.
  15. This is so devastating! I know you can get money back if DOS loses certificate. Can you try contacting them to see if you can get reimbursement for this damage?
  16. 2. You need to hire an interpreter or bring one a charity provides. It needs to be a third neutral party who is not interested in interview outcome. Your sister isn't a neutral party.
  17. Crab cakes
  18. Yes, USPS Informed Delivery is way more superior than tracking provided by USCIS. Congrats!
  19. His immigration is his problem. Techinically, he's required to file taxes on world wide income (even living outside the US) until she loses or gives up his LPR status.
  20. Are you sure it's not the details of current marriage that's being asked? At least this is what paper form does.
  21. 1) How long was your wife resident for? 2) Are you saying she lived in the US for 3+ years without green card? 3) Why didn't you apply for I-90 within a 90-120 days of not receiving the card? If it's USCIS fault, it would have been free. 4) How did wife come to the US? On K-1 / CR-1 or IR-1? Or did she adjust status in the US? 5) Did she need to file for I-751? Too many questions, I know, but without it's hard to tell whether your wife is indeed a resident and whether she's eligible to apply for N-400. In general, it's possible to apply without GC (again, if eligible, we need to establish all facts).
  22. Spouse wasn't allowed in the building at all. We met outside right after and took pics there.
  23. Either incompetent (red flag) or wants to make money (red flag)
  24. As far as I know, I-129F and I-485 can only be submitted by mail. So you need to print evidence at some point. I'd keep it in digital format until then.
  25. I think the letter should state how early you need to be there? The rule of thumb is no earlier than 30 mins prior to appointment. My ceremony (not your field office) did not allow guests either.
