Sending Green Card by international mail
OldUser replied to dhouse89's topic in General Immigration-Related Discussion
ADIT stamp, endorsed immigrant visas, expired GC accompanied by extension letters - all of those carry some degree of risk. The only place that's pretty much guaranteed to recognize these is the US. Airline staff in foreign countries typically doesn't have questions about US passports and valid Green Cards. Everything else is always depends on their training and understanding. Reddit case proves - the person was admitted to the US even after annoying CBP encounter. Unfortunately this you cannot change. Anybody can be subject to hard time by CBP - from immigrants on visas, to LPRs and even US citizens. It doesn't happen often, but even US citizens can be questioned and detained by CBP when trying to reenter. -
Suspected Green Card Fraud

I'm sorry you had to go through this. So far I see no indicators of fraud. Just a very bad / incompatible person. Divorce seems like a logical step. Good luck! -

Suspected Green Card Fraud
OldUser replied to JeffAtl's topic in Effects of Major Family Changes on Immigration Benefits
There's possibility, but we cannot jump to conclusions based on one side of the story and limited detail. It would be not to immigrant's benefit to be divorcing with pending I-751. If she married OP for GC she would have likely naturalized (or at least obtained 10 year GC) and then seeked divorce. But it's the OP who's seeking divorce. Sometimes US citizens want to flex their power and if immigrant doesn't tip toe around them, start divorcing. Not saying it's the situation here, but it's also a possibility. -
Can a friend come with me to N400 interview?
OldUser replied to EMBELL_17's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
100% they won't be allowed at the interview. 99% they won't be allowed in the building. 99% they will be allowed outside the building / parking lot. -
Officer may need to see originals. Taking originals and copies is a good strategy, so you can hold onto originals and allow IO to keep copies.

Lost I-551 and need to travel in 12 hrs please help
OldUser replied to PJMERK's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
You can try but I doubt you'll be boarded. You now need to get a boarding foil from embassy. -
I agree, ID is a must. I think a lot of people try to save money but that works against them. Only recently read a thread where the person didn't have any valid US ID and their foreign passport expired. Not a good spot to be in.

If they show your address make sure to include them. Any correspondence showing address where both of you live is something

Anything can happen - NOID, denial or interview. Can you get 3-4 swarn, notarized affidavits from friends / colleagues / neighbors who know you as a married couple? Did any of you add the other on health or car insurance? Do you go to the same doctor? Any letters from the visits? Submit all tax return transcripts, from 2019 until 2023? Any copies of IDs or DLs showing same address? Any letters addressed to both of you? Any hotel reservations with both names? Costco / Sam's club / Amazon family / National parks or other joint memberships? You need to get creative.

They're probably looking for more evidence. I'd send everything you have. What about joint bank account statements and utility bills? Do you have any of those spanning period from date of marriage until now? Essentially they didn't think what you sent was enough or up to date to approve your case.

1) Did you request a combo interview in cover letter when applying for N-400? 2) Did you attach copy of I-751 in your N-400 submission? I does happen, your case is not extraordinary. No, you don't have to apply for N-400 again or pay the fees. When your I-751 will get approved, you'll be placed in line for oath. Legally, if you don't hear anything 120 days from N-400 interview, you can sue USCIS (Writ Of Mandamus) and they'll have to give you a decision. Hang in there, your journey is almost completed!

N-400 March 2024 Filers
OldUser replied to Tegs&Lols's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
I wouldn't risk it. You never know how the person adjudicating will react. Does the photo have anybody other than you and husband? Typically the most valuable photos are with family and friends. -

Why wasn't daughter included in your wife's I-751? What proof of legal status does she have now? -

I'm sorry the marriage did not work out. Good family lawyer would help defending your property and ensuring divorce goes smoothly. Do you have any solid proof she only used you for immigration benefit? If not, forget about the whole thing. If yes, are you ready to be investigated yourself as part of this process? Marriages between US citizens fall apart every day. Sadly, marriages between immigrants and US citizens fall apart every day too, they're not much different. Good luck. -
Agreed, I misspoke, I meant certificate of citizenship. Unless somebody wants to jump through hoops proving they're citizens at 50 years of age with parents no longer around, they should apply for N-600. I cannot imagine the pain somebody would have to go many decades later pulling records from everywhere to prove they're a citizen. The alternative is to pay the fee now and have solid proof for life.
