  1. Totally feeling you @muddyboots My case has been pending for nearly 17 months now 😃
  2. Yes, normal. Waived biometrics appointment is not a given.
  3. Hi, is your husband eligible for OPT? It would be a good option in my opinion.
  4. @Jdp001 I disagree with your lawyer. All of the lawyers I consulted with insisted on included as much evidence as possible with initial submission. I submitted medicals and all bonafide evidence with initial packet and brought the additional new evidence to interview itself. By providing evidence with initial packet you minimize chance of RFE, NOID and interview. Yes, you heard it right, some interviews are waived nowadays, based on amount and quality of evidence provided.
  5. @Terjancebu I hope I did not offend you in any way, it wasn't my intention. Some USCIS officers are not particularly nice according to forum members, so I was going off that. I wish your wife quick approval on both cases!
  6. I guess it's OK if you're about to get naturalized. One of the reasons why people get unrestricted SS card is when they have a conditional GC which is only valid for 2 years. Many employers don't understand how it works and put a lot of stress on LPRs, asking for extension letters etc. Also, in case if GC is lost, it removes any anxiety with changing jobs. But if you're close to being a citizen, it doesn't matter anymore.
  7. Congratulations ! They weren't related. I think I've seen somebody receiving 48 month extension AFTER their I-751 got approved 😃
  8. November 2021 filer. Also waiting. You can see a lot of people waiting from 2021 in various threads.
  9. Wow, 2 years to make a decision is ridiculous! There's likely racial bias involved in your case due to you and your wife (if that's you guys on the photo) coming from different ethnical backgrounds. Was the interview smooth or rough? It's time to file that N-400 and sue USCIS if needed!
  10. For item 1, usually not. You already have an unrestricted SS card.
  11. The best course of actions is to include all the evidence, including but not limited to: - Affidavits - Photos - Travel receipts - Receipts for big joint purchases - Utilities statements with both names - Bank statements for joint accounts - Joint tax return transcripts - Birth certificates for kids in this marriage (if any) - Lease / Mortgage statements (whichever applies) - Health / life / car insurance with both names on it (whatever applies) - Evidence of spouse listed as beneficiary on 401k plans / brokerage accounts etc The I-751 instructions ask for "as much as possible" evidence. Successful cases usually include more solid evidence covering at least several items from list above.
  12. Yes, the painfully slow processing is a real problem. People do receive 4 year extensions, that's true. Has your wife considered applying for naturalization (N-400)?
  13. That I agree with. Luck is a big factor in immigration journey.
  14. So what do they send as evidence? Photos? Ain't gonna fly. Even children together on its own is not always enough. There needs to be indication of people actually living together, and that's usually lease / mortgage and joint expenses.
  15. In USCIS eyes, joint accounts and other joint assets are exactly things they're expecting from petitioner as proof of bonafide marriage. Not merging finances is one of the fraud indicators on their list. Reasons why married people merge their finances: - Percentage of their salary goes towards housing costs (rent or mortgage) - Percentage of their salary goes towards bills (gas, internet, phone, baby care) - Percentage of their salary goes towards savings for house downpayment
  16. Form I-130. Next to last option, which mentions US citizen filing for parents.
  17. Exactly why you didn't have success. To get the SS card you need to wake up at 5 am, drive for 3 hrs, stand in line for 2 hrs, demand to see manager etc. I think SSA employees thought you had it way too easy 😃 Jokes aside, definitely try getting DMV out of the way. And retry SSA if nothing comes your way in few weeks.
  18. Speak to other employee at SSA, their manager. Go to other SSA office. Essentially, GC is a proof of your status. Complete SS-5 form and bring with all the proof.
  19. I think you just had incompetent people at SSA office.
  20. I would be way more confident about this scenario if your wife was on F1, on second year of 4 year program with OPT ahead and current visa. See this
  21. My understanding is the spouses of LPR should be in valid status all the way until AOS is adjudicated. Which OP's wife is not going to have after completing OPT. But others can correct me.
  22. Good catch, I accidentally looked at table A. I'll let the others comment.
  23. Have you checked visa bulletin table? I don't think she can file I-485. Her visa isn't current. https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/legal/visa-law0/visa-bulletin/2023/visa-bulletin-for-april-2023.html It says: "For April, F2A numbers EXEMPT from per-country limit are authorized for issuance to applicants from all countries with priority dates earlier than 01NOV18. F2A numbers SUBJECT to per-country limit are authorized for issuance to applicants chargeable to all countries EXCEPT MEXICO, with priority dates beginning 01NOV18 and earlier than 08SEP20. All F2A numbers provided for MEXICO are exempt from the per-country limit." " What country is she from? Looks like all chargeablity is 2020 right now. So 3 years.
