  1. N-400 cannot be approved and will have to be withdrawn. How long would divorce take? If USCIS gives you 88 days to produce response to RFE, would divorce be final by then? IMHO a possibly better strategy if you needed more time would have been: 1) File fresh I-751 based on divorce waiver 2) Wait for receipt 3) Withdraw both N-400 and old I-751 But of course, if divorce is quick, then you can try amending I-751 to divorce waiver. More importantly, what does your lawyer say? Supposedly, they should have some strategy for handling your case. That's why you pay them? And they can help you with writing statement and explaining what you need for interview etc. That's their job? My lawyer told me which door to enter and button to press in elevator inside USCIS building prior to interview.
  2. List entire trip even if it started before statutory period and ended in statutory period. If it started and ended before statutory period, then you don't have to list it.
  3. Yes, it's allowed in California in general. Not allowed in other states. But ain't going to work with USCIS. They expect real address on ID or at least bills etc.
  4. Your ID must be under your physical address where you sleep at night! Don't even attempt to file until you have a proper ID. By listing PO box, you may be violating state laws depending on state.
  5. Thread title mentions spouse, I assume USC filing for foreign spouse.
  6. There is no such visa "I 30". There's I-130 petition which results in CR-1 or IR-1 visa after I-130 is approved and DS-260 is filed with consulate. I-130 takes about 17 months to be approved nowadays for spouses of US citizens. So you can expect a decision between December 2025 and February 2026.
  7. Not sure, it wasn't a choice for me. Again, to update status one needs to complete SS-5. The reason SS-5 exists is to get / replace a card. Agreed, not a big deal as it doesn't count towards the limit.
  8. Informing SSA about citizenship update triggers card replacement. On the backend, SS officer fills SS-5
  9. Only speculating here, but one of the reasons for USCIS being persistent on you showing bills besides proving bonafide marriage may be your background check. E.g. they ran background check on you, didn't find any documentation showing your address etc. For most applicants, they found addresses etc. For you, they didn't. So they were asking for proof.
  10. Besides showing my DL at the interview, I didn't have to provide any proof of residing at my address for 3 months. However, any issues you had with prior denial of N-400 may resurface again at your next interview. It's not like USCIS forget stuff they asked you before. If ROC is approved, it's good.
  11. Sorry for assuming AI and thank you for summarizing information!
  12. Exactly, even if expedite is approved, it can take months (3, 6?) to get any movement. US visas aren't issued in Sumy region either. Parents may need to go to Kiev or Poland (wherever visas are issued nowadays). Parent's safety and immigration are two different things, with safety being a bigger priority in my opinion.
  13. What do you mean by "converting to IR-1 / CR-1"? There's no process to convert from K-1 to CR-1 visa once you filed it. Where's this information from? While it makes sense, some of it looks like AI generated content? My recommendation was always to go CR-1 route VS K-1, and it's another reason to go marriage route.
  14. I don't know laws in China, but quick search revealed foreigner may need to be a resident in order to marry in China?
  15. Give it a week or so before starting worrying. My Amazon packages shipped with USPS also occasionally overpromise on delivery estimate, but arrive few days later.
  16. AI is a very unreliable source of informafion. It tends to hallucinate (make things up) when it doesn't know the answer. I know for a fact I got car loan as LPR with lowest rate advertised by dealership at the time. Also, my credit cards typically got lower APR than my USC spouse because I got higher income and excellent payment history. Where, however USC spouse got better rate, was mortgage. But the reason for that was, spouse's credit history was twice as long as mine. And I got more credit inquiries due to applying for cards / loans. I'll keep this remark by SSA employee this in mind though. Just never came across this as a factor, and I'm really into finance as a hobby for the past 7 years.
  17. How do you know they lost it? Letters and cards sent by USCIS can take 2-8 weeks to arrive by USPS.
  18. Only current income matters for affidavit of support, whether we like it or not...
  19. I would reply to RFE, unless online status says petition is approved. 1) Are you sure it was an officer? And not somebody else pretending? 2) How can you prove RFE is no longer relevant? Just a phone call? I'd be careful. If USCIS denies case due to not responding to RFE, how can you prove this phone call took place and what was said was true?
  20. Who's sponsoring who? Is US citizen making $0 for the past few years? If yes, joint sponsor may be required.
  21. Utility bills are typically needed to prove valid marriage and cohabitation when filing for naturalization under 3 year rule. What was the basis for denial? Surely it wasn't because of bills. If it was based on your inability to show bonafide marriage, it would be bad. It may haunt you in this N-400 too, even though you're applying under 5 year rule now. Do you have a denied I-751 or pending I-751? Are you still married to US citizen? If yes, do you live together?
