N-400 June 2024 Filers
OldUser replied to Tropical_Man1's topic in US Citizenship Case Filing and Progress Reports
Hence questions about marriage. Some officers expect US citizen spouse to be in the waiting area when LPR goes through 3 year rule N-400 interview. You're lucky officer didn't start grilling you on marriage, I've seen this reported on VJ.- 318 replies

OldUser replied to nikaM's topic in Adjustment of Status from Work, Student, & Tourist Visas
Yes scans of cards can be used though IMHI it's on weaker side of evidence (similar to joint costco membership etc). Without statements showing name it's hard to tell if AU uses the card at all. @Rekyrts can you please clarify how credit report shows whether you're an AU on somebody's account? -

I'd clarify: copy of I-130 receipt, not the original -

It could help immigrant spouse credit score if they don't have a long history and US citizen spouse had a good credit score and history. -

And as I mentioned, authorized user name only appears on statement if charges were made on authorized user card in that particular billing period @nikaM The name won't appear in the address portion, just in the statement body. For that reason, while this could be helpful it's not as great as joint credit card or joint checking / savings. -

I see, it could be to do on how busy the office is. -
AOS interview
OldUser replied to yothisisandrea's topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports
While there is a possibility of interview being cancelled and case approved without one, I wouldn't count on it. Prior to COVID, everybody going through AOS had an interview. For me, it always helped to prepare for everything (yes there going to be biometrics, yes there going to be an interview, yes it's going to be stokes interview, yes my case is going to take years). Whenever the reality was more positive than the worst hypothetical scenario it gave me joy. Make sure to prepare for the interview. Bring updated evidence of bonafide marriage, talk to spouse about answering questions, watch videos and read materials on the internet explaining how to answer questions at the interview. My only question is, did you file AR-11, change of address when you moved? Is office show here for your address hours away? https://egov.uscis.gov/office-locator/ If AOS was undesired, CR1 visa was a better choice to make. Either way, you have a long road ahead, especially if you'd have I-751. Don't let it discourage you. We're all been there. You can do it. Good luck and keep us posted! -

Elections may shake up things when it comes to passports and immigration. I'd apply for non-urgent passport if I was you. With 10 years validity, it's OK at least to me to "lose" 6-12 months that I didn't travel -

It's great evidence. I'm an Amex user myself. You will see authorized user on statement when the card is used. For months when there are no charges on authorized user card, you won't see their name on statement. -
Credit card user

You need to include credit card statements. If you use the authorized user card, it will show on the statement. I'd recommend also opening joint savings and checking accounts. These are more useful and easier to read than statements for authorized users on credit cards. If you don't like fees, you can open free accounts with Discover, Amex, Capital One and others. -

Sorry to hear about this. You need divorce decree. If you apply under 5 year rule and don't typically need marital evidence. Keep this evidence and evidence of cheating with you just in case. -
Questions about failed Naturalization Interview
OldUser replied to IloveDanang's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
Whoever fails civics or language portion of the test has another attempt without filing new N-400. Another question is whether one can jump from zero to hero in few weeks... -
November 2022 I-751 Filers
OldUser replied to Hemutian's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Congrats! Many people get worried about status not being updated. Your case is a prime example of online status not being that important. USCIS handles the case whenever they get to it, with or without status updates leading to that. If you use USPS Informed Delivery, watch for letter from Lee's Summit Production Facility. It shows tracking before USCIS posts tracking info in their status. -
I-751 September 2024 Filers
OldUser replied to jayjayk's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Agents give false info all the time. 2 and 3 are logical. You have California Service Center. Green Cards and extension letters are physically produced at Lee's Summit Production facility. When your GC will be approved, that address is going to send your GC too. -
N-400 Question on Providing Child Support
OldUser replied to kenshin02's topic in US Citizenship General Discussion
You're not providing and you're not expected to provide child support for a kid while you're in a marriage living with both spouse and the kid. -
Do you get tax refunds? If yes, do they just go into your account? How do you file taxes? Married Filing Separately or Married Filing Jointly?
-
AFAIK there is no rule forbidding somebody to keep 2 GCs at a time. In fact, many do keep two cards due to conditional card and permanent GC. I removed my conditions on GC, and still have expired GC + extension letter extending its validity. OP can return GC during naturalization or next GC renewal, but I am not aware of requirements to return second GC. As long as OP doesn't lend it, sell it or misuse it, it's just another proof of status.

You should only carry the one with May 2034 expiration. You can apply for renewal 6 months before in expires, unless the rules change in the future. As to the second card, you can either keep it in a safe place just in case or send back to USCIS with letter explaining in detail why you don't need it. The address is on the card.
