    No, just 1040X is not enough. You'd have to provide W-2 etc. I'd highly recommend using a qualifying joint sponsor, using tax return transcripts instead of 1040s, making sure everybody submits proof of citizenship. All the I-864 RFEs I've seen so far have very detailed instructions and lists of what documents USCIS expects. Send in the strongest reply, not the bare minimum or incomplete documentation, as it will lead to NOID or denial outright.

    We may not know how fast USCIS would be in 20204, but Montreal is pretty slow in 2024. I'd believe Montreal embassy staff, they have first hand experience handling the cases.

    With receipt notice, what you get online is black and white copy of receipt notice. The original notice is printed on watermarked green paper. Is it different for interview notice? E.g. I can easily tell the difference between original notices and their copies in MyUSCIS. I'd expect the same for interview notice.

    Moving while immigration case is pending can be very tricky... Have you ever filed I-90 saying GC was never delivered? Supposedly it's not your fault and you should not pay the fee for GC if you updated address with AR-11 but USCIS sent card to wrong address. So I guess I-751 is approved, one less hurdle. Do you have approval notice or it's also lost? If you never got notice in the mail, I recommend requesting a new copy - https://egov.uscis.gov/e-request/displayNDNForm.do?sroPageType=ndn&entryPoint=init It's always good to have all docs related to immigration. You never know when you may need it (even after naturalization).

    Bear in mind, whatever estimate in MyProgress you see is inaccurate. I-130 take 15 months on average nowadays (prior to change in administration). But I-130 is only half of the process. Then there is wait for visa appointment and after appointment to get visa issued. So overall, it takes about 2 years after filing I-130 to get immigrant into the US.

    Congrats! Processing times vary based on your office. You can look it up here: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/ Note that the processing times show the past, not the future performance. It's just like stock prices, nobody can definitely predict it. If you still have I-751 it may be slightly longer. Also, new administration is coming and we don't know how USCIS priorities will change in 2025.

    I wouldn't be sad about it, it's useless anyways... I'm yet to see anybody reporting they had an accurate estimation. It often "disappears", e.g. because there is outage on USCIS software side. It may come back and give you some outrageous estimate sometime in the future.

    You can try following up. I'm pretty sure IO got confused... Maybe they are not experienced, and forgot to update your online case status. Was it a N-400 interview under 3 year rule? Did your US citizen spouse attend with you?

    I see, so it's a tour company policy (e.g. taking advantage of tourists) VS Schengen visa policy that requires non-refundable reservations. Good luck and keep us posted!

    Schengen Nobody advised lying to officials in any countries. Official resources for Schengen visa suggest booking refundable / amendable tickets and reservations. This is in case if your visa is denied. EU doesn't need people to suffer financially if they can't make the trip.

    The main point of my post was. If you got visa for France you must enter and exit via France. Yes, I know for the most part you can travel freely. But no so long ago, for example, Germany set up checkpoints on border with its neighbors.

    Schengen. Applying for a particular country tourist visa requires entering and exiting EU through that country. That's at least one downside. Secondly, while there are no borders for travelling, police checkpoints emerge here or there from time to time. I'm not sure how police handles document check in this case (visa for country A, but travelling in country B).
