  1. Last week I paper filed an I-131, Reentry Permit application. It was delivered on Apr 17 2024. I did not get my receipt yet, and I need to travel outside of US briefly next week for just a few days. Is there a problem with leaving for a short time before getting the USCIS receipt? My application for the reentry permit is not connected to the above trip, but another extended trip starting in June 2024.
  2. Case filing and issuance of summonses can be challenging if you are outside of the US. Filing on your own will require very careful consideration.
  3. Hacking is fine too (a bit more expensive). Since AP cases are very easy, they are just using their common lawsuit template putting your name, so it doesn't make sense to pay so much. I would go with Curtis Morrison, because he is doing more difficult litigation than Goldstein or Hacking, and in my experience, more approachable.
  4. Don't go with them, they have bad customer service. Go with Curtis Lee Morrison, he charges less ($4000) than Goldstein
  5. Yes, 6 months. I did mine 3 months before interview. They will not let you repeat your medical until your AP is complete. 80 days is too long, you should sue them now. DS-5535 takes more than 1 year to complete, and unless you don't mind waiting, lawsuit will get you your visa in 4 months (if you start now).
  6. This is not the essence of the previous question. The main question was the price. Please read carefully.
  7. Here is the conclusion of my story. -[My immigrant interview was on Nov 29 2022, and the visa was approved on the spot. However, I later received the DS-5535 form, and since Dec 1 2022 the case was stuck in administrative processing. Having waited for two months, I filed the lawsuit on Feb 1 2023 to compel the State Department to issue my visa. The lawsuit deadline is April 24 2023. Magically, on April 4 2023 the US consulate in Amsterdam told me to repeat my medical exam and return my passport for visa issuance. So, if you get the DS-5535, file the mandamus lawsuit on the NEXT day. Don't wait for 2 months, like I did. According to one experienced litigator, the Biden administration (luckily) does not fight these lawsuits at all, and they just print the visa, because it is more work for them to backfire at you. Otherwise, it takes anywhere from 4 to 11 months for the DS-5535 to get cleared. This has horrible consequences for employment-based immigrants, because the priority date started to retrogress this year. I hope this information would help others to get unstuck
  8. Nice, I am sure your interview will go well and hope you won't get administrative processing, because this is the worst what can happen... Sometimes I wish they just denied me and that's it - I would move on.
  9. You can always ask your passport back, they will give it to you no problem. When was your interview and what type of visa are you getting?
  10. No, I filed a lawsuit, and the Embassy has a deadline on April 24 2023. If you get DS-5535, file the lawsuit on the next day, do not wait. According to one lawyer, the Biden administration does not fight on the DS-5535 delays (knock on wood) because they took credit for ending Trump's policies. Nothing changed since then, so they keep delays under the carpet and simply print visas.
  11. You will need to email the panel doctor to schedule your appointment in Amsterdam. In their reply email, there will be a list of required vaccines. You will have to do vaccinations before attending your medical exam. I did mine at KLM health services (Schiphol) because they even work on Sundays. GGD or anywhere else is also fine, although it could take a while to set up your appointment with them. Certificates, stamps in your yellow book are all accepted (including from other countries). My final suggestion: if you happen to be someone of either Middle-Eastern, Russian, Chinese, Indian background, be sure to fill out that DS-5535 form BEFORE your interview. Just in case, fill out, print and sign your DS-5535 so that you have an opportunity to directly hand it in to your interviewing officer. Remember, if they don't ask for it, it does not mean they will not request it by email after your interview is completed. Best of luck!
  12. I got documentary qualified by NVC on July 19 2022, and the interview letter came on September 28 2022. The interview was scheduled for November 15, however, they rescheduled it to be on November 8, and I missed that appointment. Anyways, they rescheduled my interview again and I attended it on November 29 2022. Overall not bad. Regardless, it has been more than 1 year since my I-140 approval and more than 18 months since my I-140 filing. I have filed a WOM lawsuit through a firm to compel them to issue my visa (of course they could also deny the visa, however, since I don't have any criminal record or misrepresentation, they don't have any grounds to do so).
  13. Here are some simple logic lessons I will provide for free. If the consular officer says "your visa is approved", it means this and ONLY this: the visa is approved. Not "the visa will be approved", nor "the visa was approved". People do get approved on the spot and receive their passport in one week.
  14. Fantastic, turns out these agencies always tell you half of the truth.
  15. Writ of mandamus is probably the best way to go, otherwise they sit on cases for years
  16. Well, I went through administrative processing 6 or 7 times before for my F1/B1/B2 visas. Each and every time, the officer used to say in the end "we give you 221 g". Each time it took 4-5 weeks to get clearance. For the green card interview, she told me "your visa is approved", and l8 hours later I receive DS-5535🤯
  17. Yes, I used to be a Russian national, and my parents still are. No travel to Iran etc in my life.
  18. Hi Everyone! Has anyone experienced something similar? Long story short: in November, during my green card interview in Amsterdam the consular officer told me that my visa was approved (she told this to me twice). After 8 hours or so, I got an email from the embassy asking to fill out DS-5535 ASAP. My Dutch passport is still with the consulate, and it has been already over 1 month that they are doing administrative processing. I sent them an e-mail asking for a status update, however, the reply was "we'll only contact you once the AP is over, and will not reply to further inquiries anymore". Anyone with similar experience with the DS-5535 in Amsterdam?
