  1. Me and my fiancee at the time did go through an unofficial wedding ceremony in Tokyo in 2022. We later started the process of K-1 visa for her to come to America. There was no problems during our whole immigration process. We also had a lawyer represent us, and she did tell us it was fine, so long as it was explained that it was an unofficial ceremony and not legally binding. We even submitted photos of the ceremony for the visa application.
  2. My wife went to the required medical exam before the interview in Tokyo. After the interview, she got her passport back via mail. After the visa approval and arriving into the US, we completed the marriage and began the process of status adjustment/green card. Fast forward to now, we just had the "initial interview" at a USCIS field office. Everything went well except the question of medical exam. We were asked if we have any documents from the medical exam, like the I-693. The problem is we never received such documents. We only have the receipt of examination. All she received beside passport was the sealed envelope, which has been submitted accordingly. I suppose that had the medical exam documents. Now we received a RFE (request for evidence), and medical exam documents must be submitted with it. That would mean going to a medical exam again. She already paid $300 for the medical exam in Japan and unfortunately we may have to pay that amount again, through no fault of our own. What can be done about this? Can we call anyone to recover the documents? It seems like the documents got lost, maybe by USCIS or the embassy, and we have to pay for their mistake.
  3. For international flights, round trip tickets can be cheaper than booking one way. When coming to the US on approved K1 visa, will a round trip ticket cause trouble? Especially since you also have to get through US Customs, maybe having a round trip ticket can raise suspicion or deeper questioning. Of course, don't fly the return portion. What are your advice?
  4. Yes, it is Tokyo. There is no welcome letter. I checked the approved 1-129F and there is nothing starting with "TKY". Only the receipt number starting with "WAC". It was the California office. On the DS-160 confirmation, under "Selected application location", there are TKY letters by it self. Nothing else next to it. The following lines under it is the embassy address.
  5. My fiancee has now gotten to the point where she will have medical and interview scheduled. But the medical needs to be done first, and she was instructed to schedule an appointment with one of the approved medical centers. But there was an issue that she must provide a TKY number, presumably from the confirmation receipt. But the TKY number are for immigration visa applicants, which is not what the K-1 lies under. She has a confirmation code starting with the letter "A" and a corresponding barcode. She clarified that she is on a K-1 visa application, which is a non-immigrant visa, but they insist that she provide a TKY number to schedule an appointment. We are now unsure on how to proceed.
  6. Since having employment and making at least the minimum amount in income (for the US petitioner) is one of the one of the requirements for the K1 fiancee visa process, it was my understanding that it is most important to have employment by the time of the interview. But what if I were to attend a college or higher education like training for a certification? Can this really substitute the employment requirement or is employment required regardless if you're attending school or not?
