  1. I think I am even move confused now. I was under the impression that we could file for the ssn prior to fining for the AOS. I thought we could file 14 days after arrival, our wedding isnt until Feb.
  2. Hello, After reading the quideline and searchign the forum I unfortunately do not have clarity on this one item and could use some assistance. My fiance camt to the US on the k-1 visa and with her my step son (k-2). In the guideline it states that when filing for them to receive an ssn, the k-2 will need a valid EAD from USCIS. He is 9 years old and will not be working for the forseeable future. To obtain the EAD we would have had to file the form I-765, Application for Employment Authorization along the way but never did or were aware we needed to prior to comign to the US. Is this just an oversight and not intended for minors nor intended to work and the EAD isnt really required?
  3. in retrospect our process went pretty smoothly. I was extremely upset that we didnt get to fly back together because she was truly new to travel but she flew a week after I did and I videoed everything on the way back including the immigration officers lol they laughed because they could hear I was narrating for her and nobody complained. She did fine and arrived without a problem.
  4. As it turned out it definitely is...my interview was dec 5th and our CFO intervieew was over and done with by dec 20, she was on a plane here on Dec 22. You will be fine my friend Good luck to you both.
  5. Cfo is going to be worse. My lady had to hire someone to do the appointment for us.
  6. How long did you have to wait after your interview to receive the visa?
  7. We just finished our appointment and were approved. Children under 14 years do not need to attend. You just need all of their documentation. Good luck to all still waiting.
  8. I will The letter says no but I didn't think about the biometrics part.
  9. Please disregard. Under 14 years old not required to attend per the letter from the embassy. We only need to bring his documents.
  10. We have our appointment today at the embassy. My fiance son is sick and he is applying as a k2. Does he need to attend the appointment at the embassy? He is 9 years old.
  11. That is amazing!!!!!! I am happy that it all worked out for your family, congratulations to you all.
  12. What is the PKT3? WE are all done with our medical and waiting for our embassy appointment and I dont know if I ever got this
  13. Good morning, I believe you said your appointment was yesterday so I hope you were approved and yensions have been reduced with you and your loved one.
  14. I think this is the choice I would take too. Knowing that we are one step closer does relieve some anxiety and once approved the visa is good for 6 months so plenty of time to get the children tested so they can have their visa approved. I dont think that children are required to have an interview at the embassy (someone can correct me) so it seems that once the tests are available and the children pass they can be issued a visa and you will not need a new embassy interview. Other more experienced members can clarify but that is the choice I would make.
  15. Hi, We were actually not told anything about the test shortage. My fiance just happened to look on the website a day or two before our appointment and happened to see the nitification and that prompted me to make this post. I think they put the notification on the website in anticipation of running out and we were just one of the lucky few that got in before the test were all gone. A courtesy call to each person with a scheduled appointment would be nice but I thik too much to anticipate or expect. This is the Philippines and things dont always go as planned there.
  16. fyi, there are cancelations all the time...just keep checking
  17. thats so strange because my son went yesterday and completed it all. I am thinking maybe they have a shortage and at some point will run out so they are setting the expectation low to minimize drama when they eventually run out for real.
  18. Also, I was too afraid of some kind of mishap, the tb test results or some other craziness to schedule our medical that close to our interview. My nerves would be a wreck in that 9 day period in between. Good luck.
  19. ok, I dont understand what happened...but when she checked in she was told that there was a shortage on the tests and she would have to bring my son back and they would call to reschedule. Then when she got upstairs they actually did the test. So apparantly there is a shortage but they still have some as of today. I agree with the other poster, I would not reschedule my appointment either.
  20. It actually says this explicitly on the notice that no interviews will be given without the medical report.
  21. The tickets were for me to fly into the Philippines to attend (or wait outside) the interview appt and then we all fly back home together.
  22. They are not refundable but changable with a fee. Hopefully since our medical is today and the interview appt isnt until Dec we will have enough time to get it resolved.
  23. Thank you...we still plan to attend, just not sure what happens after and if we will be able to have my son tested in time for the interview.
  24. I'm not sute what happened but suddenly I was able to create an account and schedule the appointment.
  25. My fiance and son have the medical appointment today and I just saw this posted on their website. If I understand this correctly this means because of the shortage of tests he (9 years old) cannot have this test and therefore we cannot go to our embassy interview. Is that correct? Our embasssy interview is currently scheduled for Dec 5th but because of his age he is not even required to be there. If I understand this right once they get more test in they will notify us to reschedule? I dont trust them to reach out to each and every person to let us all know and all the appointments will be booked very quickly if/when they do. Has anyone ever see this before? What exactly is the IGRA test? If they do not release the medical report are we stuck because we cannot have the interview? We have purchased our tickets already and i have taken time off work so I am concerned about the timing of this announcement. Has this happened before and does anyone have any guidance on how to proceed?
