Hello everyone,
I am a United States citizen sponsoring my parents, who are Canadian citizens, to become US permanent residents. They are retired and would like to live in both Canada and the United States - to be snowbirds, in other words.
My general question is: how does one maintain balance between the two countries as a citizen of Canada and permanent resident of the United States? I understand that a US permanent resident must be in the United States for ~6 months in a year to maintain their residency. Can a person live in Canada and the US each for 6 months, and be able to maintain their US permanent residency?
Do other Canadian citizens and US permanent residents on this forum have any insights?
