My husband just got his in the mail on Saturday, so 10 days after his official entry thru JFK. We didn't got to any Social Security Office, figured we'd wait it out for the 2-3 weeks and see. -

Hey everyone! We are officially settled in the US. We arrived thru JFK yesterday morning, and despite reading in many thread on this site that they would let you and your immigrant spouse pass thru the US Citizen's line, we were told we both had to go to the non-citizen line (which was longer, obviously). Arriving at the window, my husband mentioned he's entering on a CR1 visa, the officer was very relaxed, called another officer over to take my husband to "the room" and asked me to wait by the exit door. My husband was in and out in 10 minutes, he said he literally waited for them to call his name, had him enter, was not asked anything, was simply told, "you're all set, welcome to the US" and he was free to go! Hoping everyone else has as smooth of a time as us. We're crossing our fingers his SSN arrives soon so we can get started on the other state-side bureaucracy like bank accts and driver's license - has anyone gotten their SSN yet, and how long did it take? -

Hey everyone, my husband got approved on Tuesday!! Had his interview, brought the giant folder with so many extra forms and proofs of domicile, etc and they didn't really ask for anything extra, just hard copies of everything from CEAC. The guy asked him 3 questions and that was it. I think the fact that we live together here helped, I was really worried about proof of domicile but we just took photocopy of my still valid US driver's license, proof over voter registration and a utility bill from the address we'll be living at that has been changed to my name starting January 2024, as well as my US passport. They told him he'd get his passport in 2-3 weeks, so now it's the final waiting game of this whole thing! We're probably going to move in July so we have some time to finalize everything here. Sending all of you lots of good luck that you get approvals soon as well!!! -

We wound up calling the clinic directly and getting a "overflow" appointment for 20 days before the interview, so that's should be more than enough time. Everything on the .gov website says you need to have the medical done before the interview, so we didn't want to risk it. The clinic said it was a pretty common practice to make these sorts of overflow appointments -

We just got a date for the end of March! But of course the only two doctors in the city who do the medical test don't have appointments until April.🙃 Does anyone know what the protocol is in this situation? Do we just need to reschedule our interview date after registering it? -

OMG! That is so long! Have you sent a message to the NVC or anything? They just responded to our message saying we are in line to get an appointment and they will let us know but gave no indication of where in line we are nor any estimate of how long that might take, so we're back to just waiting. The NVC site says they aim to get interview dates within 90 days of DQ so 5 months is much longer!! -

Hey all, we haven't heard anything about our interview date for about 2 months now. Just wondering how long it took other people between getting DQ'd and their interview date? I know each country/embassy is different, and we sent a message today just to make sure we didn't miss anything but considering how fast we got DQ'd, we were definitely hoping the interview date would've been assigned already. -

DQ notice just arrived from NVC! It took us exactly 2 weeks total, including the notice that we needed to send additional documentation. The second review actually took a little longer than the first. Waiting to hear about the interview date! -

Hey all! We submitted files to the NVC - turnaround was SO FAST! It was 5 business days. I wrote a short notice that because I work freelance and earn in pesos, I didn't meet the US tax requirement so I didn't have tax returns for the last few years. My dad in the USA are my joint sponsor. We also submitted all of my partner's required docs in Spanish (the original language) since we're living in a Spanish-speaking country and no issue there! Really happy we didn't have to translate anything. NVC accepted (approved) everything, but asked for the 1099 and Schedule Forms from my parents' 2022 taxes. Just submitted those today so hopefully will get DQ in the next few days. Just wanted to update info in case anyone hasn't sent docs yet! -

So I was rereading the requirements for translation and from what I understand, I don't need to translate if they are in Spanish and that is the official language of where we are applying from. Did anyone else submit NVC docs without translating because they were in the language of the country you were applying from? -

Question for NVC document translations: did anyone else translate their partner's documents themselves? I am fluent in both languages and it would be way easier for me to just translate it but I'm worried since it's not an certified translation, it will cause problems (even though I know it says it doesn't need to be done by an official). Was hoping someone could give me insight whether it worked out for them or not. Thanks in advance! -
Hi everyone! I know this thread is from a while ago but it seems to have the most potential for answering my questions. I am a dual citizen, US and Chile. Have been living in Chile for the last 5 years. I haven't made enough foreign income to reach the tax threshold previously but I think now that we're married, I do? I talked to a CPA in the USA and they told me to just file the 1040NR EZ. Is anyone else a dual US citizen and have they done this? Or have any other suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

Do you mean a year after getting approved in the interview? Or from when you got approved by USCIS? From what I understand you need to enter within six months of being approved in the interview stage, since after 6 months the CR1 visa would expire. -

I'm also concerned about this in our case. I have lived abroad for almost 5 years now, met my husband here and have been back only twice in the past 5 years. I'm hoping the fact that I have a current mailing address in the US thru my parents, bank accounts, voter registration and absentee voting records, as well as a US driver's license will be enough! We're not planning on looking for work before we arrive so I won't have anything relating to jobs and we don't have kids to enroll in schools. I've heard showing money transfers between your foreign and domestic bank accounts help? Anyone else heard that? -

NVC stage question! My dad is going to be my joint sponsors since I'm not working the US and therefore not earning enough. Do we both need to file an i184? Or just him? I don't file taxes in the USA since I live and work in Chile. Thanks in advance!! -

They officially received our K3 in Vermont on March 29th - will keep you all posted on if that helps speed things up at all. It's been almost 8 months to the day since we filed our CR1, so we are very anxious to get to the NVC stage and beyond. Wishing everyone luck!! -

Same!! We got moved to Vermont earlier this year, and our K3 was just received a few days ago so we'll see if that helps. -

Officially mailed our K3 I-129 packet off on Friday, 3/17. They told me it should take about 2 weeks to get there. Hoping that's the case - anything to hurry along the process. Our MyUSCIS page says 3 months but honestly since we got moved to Vermont I'm not so sure about that. -

Hi all! I have been looking through VisaJourney and other parts of the internet but can't seem to find where we should send the K3 application. In the guide on VisaJourney it has a link for the Dallas lockbox but that link leads you to an error page on the USCIS site. TIA!
