  1. Just wanted to thank everyone and esp. Mike E for all your support and help. And wanted to update all that had my interview yesterday and was approved! Cheers. All the best.
  2. Thank you. Cheers Ah. Thank you so much for clarifying that. Cheers. Thats assuring to hear:) thank you. Cheers
  3. Thank you so so much for your wishes. And your response. I know employment is not required for naturalization but per my understanding, its unfavorable if they deem someone a potential/future burden on the govt. & system or public charge. I want to avoid any unnecessary difficulties and delays in my naturalization process.
  4. Hi, I filed N-400 online on USCIS website and my naturalization interview is this Monday, April 17th Quick background: - I've had a major health issue/condition since late 2019 coinciding with my move to Virginia, and have been unable to work full-time since. There is no definite diagnosis yet and still undergoing more medical examinations. Thankfully the condition is under control with current medications and I am in the market for full-time employment now. - During the pandemic I kept myself as productive as possible with personal development (public speaking club, writing), creative (dance/music group, charcoal art), mentoring with organizations, experimenting with my entrepreneurship ideas, executive education certificates / online course, and also worked in limited capacity with a startup (strategy / advisory) without pay. - I have self sustained financially throughout comfortably and will be able to continue to do so, but for health insurance I am on medicaid. I have filed tax return every year. Questions: 1. How do I tackle employment related questions? 2. Should I mention anything regarding my medical issues? (I do not want to be considered a potential public charge etc. ) Any insight / advice re: interview and possible concerns and how to navigate the interview smoothly will be greatly appreciated! Thank you:)
  5. Thank you so much everyone for your answers and help! Cheers!
  6. Hi, I applied online for N-400 & my naturalization interview is on Monday, 17th April : Q.1. For the interview I will carry all documents listed in USCIS Interview Notice and, uploaded online with my N-400 submission. Should I carry any additional evidence / USA documents prior to the last 5 years? (e.g. employment record or ties to USA earlier than the previous 5 years) ? Thanks!
  7. N-400 Question: Where have you worked and/or attended school (full time or part time) during the last 5 years? 1. For education : Q1. Should I mention Course Certifications received through online platforms like Coursera? Q2. What about in-person education/training certifications? (eg. I received 2 certifications: Certified Scrum Product Owner, Certified Scrum Master through the Scrum Alliance Org. & I have the credential details and certificate proof) 2. For employment : Q1. I was a brand ambassador (promoter) for a startup company for few months, this was unpaid. Do I add this in N-400 under the employment/education question? Q2. A co-founder and I worked on a startup idea for few months and then we didn't take it further. Should this be added to the N-400? I don't have any online proof of this in case USCIS does an employment check. Q3. I was also involved with a startup company in between in an advisory capacity (for few months). I did this for the experience and didn't get compensated. Should this be added to the N-400 under the employment/education question? Thank you very much!
  8. Okay, no problem Mike. Have really appreciated all your help thus far, so thank you. Yes, I have filled my N-400 application online and wanted to review it today and tomorrow before hitting submit on the drafted N-400 application online. Due to a personal emergency, I need to make an unanticipated trip to India in December. So was calculating my "maximum absence allowed post filing N-400" using your two conditions except now I am suddenly confused about the meaning of 2nd condition. Anyways, Happy December to you! Best, Ambica
  9. 1. My most recent travel out of USA was in first week of October 2022, and I entered back into USA on 7th October 2022. 2. My N-400 will be submitted online on December 1st 2022. 3. I will travel outside of USA again on December 15th 2022. I am trying to calculate what is my maximum absence allowed so I maker sure to return before then? Per your two conditions: 1. N-1 = 69 -1 = 68 2. What is constituting "during the period" after N-400 is filed? Thanks again Mike
  10. Hi Mike! Hope you are doing well I am back to reconfirm I understood the above correctly, as I am most likely to travel out of USA again in December (mid). 1. I went out of the USA in first week of October for 5-6 days and re-entered the USA on 7th October. If my date of travel out of USA is 15th December, then N-1 would be [(15th Dec - 7th October) - 1 ] = 69 - 1 = 68 days is the maximum absence allowed ---- 2. If I filed for N-400 on November 25th, getting confused about the time frame to be considered "during the period". Can you pls clarify this further? thank you so much.
  11. Hi All, I am an Indian citizen (India Passport). I have 2 questions: 1. Ascertain if I am already eligible for Naturalization from Permanent Residency. I became a Green Card holder in Sept 2012. After 1 year+ in USA, I left USA for less than 6 months and re-entered for 6-8 weeks (during which time I applied for Re-entry permit). My 2 year re-entry permit came in Oct 2014, (2 months after I had left the USA) and I entered back into the USA 1-2 days before expiry of the re-entry permit (in Oct 2016). I stayed in the USA for 5 months and left the USA again in 2017 March. This time I was out of the USA for less than a year and returned to the USA 1-2 days before the one year period in Feb end 2018. Since then, I stayed in the USA until Oct end 2021 and then left USA for 5 months and returned back to the USA again in first week of April 2022. [Attached a spreadsheet with all my days in and out of the USA. pls review] 2. My Permanent Residency expires in Sept 2022. Do I apply for renewal of Green Card or apply directly for Naturalization (if eligible now)? Thank you so much for your help! Please review the spreadsheet attached!
