Hello everyone,
My fiancé in the Philippines lost her passport a little over a month ago and her passport was the only item I was waiting on to move forward with our case. She did the necessary paperwork to report it lost and apply for a new one. She later found her passport, and said since she never met with anyone about getting a new passport her current one should be valid. I filled out the required forms and we scheduled her medical and interview date. I insisted that she double check there just to be sure her passport wasn't actually listed as cancelled/lost, and when she went in person to the passport processing center in her area they told her that her passport was indeed cancelled. She was able to apply for a new one right then and there, and should have it in 2 weeks. My only question is how will the affect our case going forward? She was able to keep her old passport, but of course it's no longer valid. I searched and found a couple posts related to a similar situation and the posters said that a corrected DS-160 is all that is required, and to bring both passports to the interview. I did email the embassy to see if they could help me, but received a very generic response in return that did not address the issue (they are understandably busy). I wanted to check with the knowledgeable readers here to be sure as we are hoping that this doesn't delay anything.
Thanks for reading.
