Nairobi, Kenya DQ to interview wait time
Truserenity11 replied to Eduh's topic in Africa: Sub-Saharan
My husband completed his interview Oct 31st. We were issued a 221g letter indicating I, the petitioner needed to submitted a couple original documents to match the copies submitted. They also requested my husband to send his passport. 2 days after receiving my documents, THEY HAVE ISSUED HIS VISA‼️ This has been the long awaited for!! Literally pulling teeth to get to this moment!! He will be arriving in the US Dec 31st and we will bring in 2025 together🙏🏽🤗 We thank God and especially our ancestors for working on our behalf, helping us to stay as strong as possible along this long journey… it’s finally coming to an end. -

Happy anniversary!! We’re married Feb 12, 2021 so every 12th for us. We have not been fortunate enough to visit one another as I’ve mainly been the sole provider since Covid. Our relationship dates back to April 10, 2018, my father’s late birthday. This November 11th will be my 4th and last birthday spending it alone as a married woman. We’ve been using Whatsapp since 2018, texting, audio and video calls. I’ll be so glad when I can finally, put the phone down. 🙏🏽 -

I’m not sure how it indicated I said the above response when it was 1wildcat, but according to many it’s currently been a 22 month long wait because of the fact they prioritize diversity visas for several months out of the year and kinda put the rest on back burner. I was the 2nd person to have responded to this thread back in late 2022 which back then we all thought it would be like a year or so based on previous activity. They have always blamed covid as to the reason why immigrant visas were taking so long but we didn’t believe that as we saw 100s of DV being processed from months March thru Aug-Sept. I was really shocked to have received our IL in the first batch of many immigrant visa interviews since March 2024. I’m hoping for miracles to be had because keeping families apart for years is very uncalled for and very damaging imo. There are yet many who have gotten lost in the shuffle who were DQd prior to me and are still waiting to be reunited with their families. This has been a long painful road. I haven’t seen my husband in over 3.5 years and by the time we reunite it will be less than 2 months away from our 4th wedding anniversary. And who knows?? It could’ve been all the noise being made here recently amongst the protests and outrage in Kenya. All the best 🙏🏽✨ -

Thank you so much!! We are getting more and more excited as we complete each requirement leading up to the interview. It still doesn’t seem quite real right now but I know it’s really happening. According to your dates you mentioned, if you were DQd in 2024 it will be in 2026 when you hear from the embassy unless they miraculously start working really really hard, because from the months of March through August they tend to focus solely on DV with very few immigrant visas being issued. Staying busy is my best advice in order to help the time go by. It has been extremely stressful but soon it will all be worth it‼️ -

Quick update: My spouse has completed his medical exam and it’s being sent directly to the embassy. No more sealed envelopes to carry with you to your interview. The only vaccination he was missing was varicella which they gave to him during the appt. I’ve uploaded my recent tax return and his current police record will be available for pick up soon so he can upload to the ceac portal. We’re now preparing for the interview, obtaining copies of everything necessary, etc. I’ll update you all after Oct 31st. -

You ARE next! I’m not going anywhere until my husband arrives dammit 🤣 We have been suffering waaaay too long and I want to see those who have been on this same journey just as happy and relieved as we are now. 22 months Wagzy… never would’ve imagined. Me and husband met online before Covid, got married after Covid and never imagined life to become so difficult, but keep your faith and exercise all the patience you can possibly think of… I never thought I would see this day!! Thank you 😊 -

I thought my previous message posted but it did not. Considering what’s going on currently in Nairobi there may be some delays as they have flown the ambassador out of the country and protests are still going on in order to try to repair the country’s corruption. Last I heard was March of this year and they were working on DQd Oct 2022 ILs. They tend to prioritize DV visas for several months and this is now coming into question as to why when many of them are being denied the visa at the end of the day. Meanwhile spouses and children’s fees have already been paid to the US and therefore are put on the back burner…we’re hoping they will do the right thing and catch up on the unnecessary backlog which if they were serious they could get cleared up in a few months time… -

Here are May’s numbers. With the protests going on now I doubt any real work is getting done now.. it’s such a shame that there is so much corruption. Such a shame.. -

I know EXACTLY how you feel. I’m responding to you this evening with no teeth in my mouth. The stress of it all has weakened my teeth to the point I now have 16 implants that are now beginning to heal. Don’t give up… on you or your spouse. You are needed! It takes a lot of courage to come on here exposing your vulnerabilities to the world but just know, you are not alone. We will all get there and this will be a distant memory. I’m currently in Mexico healing from today’s surgery. I am in the same situation, US citizen but married to an Ugandan who has to interview in Nairobi, DQd Nov 2022. Our day will come.. keep holding on! Much love -

Today April 10th holds significant weight. I met my husband online today 6 years ago, it’s also my late father’s 82nd birthday and my cat’s 7th birthday 🥳. Thanks for your encouragement and the very same energy to you. -

Yess we got a RFE at both USCIS and NVC. USCIS was cleared in a week and we got approved. At that time, NVC was taking about 2 months to DQ everybody but we got a RFE Sept 2022 which pushed us out approx another 2 months to DQ Nov 2022. I will be so happy when this last longing piece of the puzzle can finally be solved. Just need the IL and I’ll be able to begin breathing again. I am hoping for the best… -

My husband’s birthday is also June. We were married Feb 2021 in Uganda but I began the petition from the US June 2021. We got to NVC July 2022, DQd Nov 2022. I’ve heard a couple people received ILs April 1st that were DQd Oct 2022. Our time is coming.. -

We had high hopes since Nov 2023 as we were notified by others that the timeframe was between 16-17 months from DQ and there were several who fulfilled that timeframe. That’s where we got the timeline from but since they have went back to prioritizing DV it pushes the other categories back in line in a sense. Based on the numbers I posted recently Oct 2022 should’ve gotten ILs in Feb and Nov 2022 in March, but yes, all we can do is continue waiting but it is VERY STRESSFUL taking care of 2 households as a single person for 3+ years without any good news. We’re ALL trying to be patient and hold on to that mustard seed.. -
