Hey VJ! A couple of questions that I’m hoping someone can help me with! My background (condensed) I was an F-1 visa holder from 2015-2020, with the 2019-2020 year being OPT. So, I have an expired EAD card and a social security card with the “DHS authorisation required” stamp on it. I returned to the U.K. following my education, did long distance through the covid pandemic with my girlfriend (now my Wife, since October 2022). I’m now in the US and we are doing the AOS I-485 - I-130 package. So, to get to my question: I-765 Part 1 Reason for applying - I chose 1c for a renewal, is this correct? Or should I choose 1a for initial permission to accept employment, as it is completely separate from my F-1 days? Secondly, Question 14 “Do you want the SSA to issue you a social security card?” I figure no because I already have one, although it does have the “DHS authorisation required” stamp on it. Is this an issue? Should I get a new one hoping that stamp isn’t on there? Thank you very much. Attempting this without a lawyer is daunting but this website has helped a lot!
