    I don't think its common. typically DoS replies with a day or two either denying it or accepting or asking for more evidence. Send them a followup email breifly explaining that its an urgent matter.

    Hi. Thank you for sharing your story. I also have a similar timeline. DoS has multiple points to delay your case. In my case, they delayed the initial uploading of the application (DS-3035 and other documents) for 4 months. Then DoS delayed i-613 upload for 5 months. Then DoS delayed my change of address request for 2 months. I am still pending and in actual I am in 17+ months. I am confident that DoS will delay my sponsor views and final decision too, so I am seeing one more year ahead. These days gathering information about lawsuit as this seems the only option for people delayed 15+ months. I feel that if your case is delayed, it will be super delayed.

    Can anybody advise how to file a case against DoS for abnormal delaying? Can it be filed on our own as I don't have money for a lawyer for this process? Thanks,

    I also got the same response a year ago. DoS is very fast in processing/denying expedite requests. The whole process got completed in a week.

    Is this the date USCIS forwarded your case or the date being shown on the DOS portal? It looks like DOS only considers their portal date as the receipt date.

    That guy first submitted hardship, but it didn't go beyond USCIS, so he filed No Objection and as he had government funding, he got denied.

    I was thinking the same way last year, but all hopes went into vain, and now it's the end of the next fiscal year. I have been with DOS since Mar 2022 and see at least 4-5 more months ahead.

    DoS typically mails you the decision in the stamped envelope that you submit with the application. However, not everyone receives that.

    Your case is well beyond the processing time of 36-52 weeks. Have you sent an email to DOS reminding them that your case is beyond normal processing time on their website and if they can update you about the progress of your case?

    HI EVERYONE, MANY AMONG US ARE EXTREMELY STRESSED WITH THIS PROCESS AND NEED OUR HELP AND INPUT TO GO THROUGH IT. Please keep this group going and post any result you come across here so that members stay hopeful that things are moving. What I have observed is that cases that were received by DOS in 2021 are done and DOS is working on cases from the first half of 2022. The date that matters is the receipt date on the DOS portal not when USCIS sent your i-612/i-613 to DOS.

    Is June 2022 the DOS receipt date of forms i-612/i-613 or it's the date when USCIS sent your forms to DOS? DOS only starts counting from the date it uploads your case on their portal (for some people, it takes ~10 months just to upload these electronic forms on the DOS portal). I hope the senator route does something for you as neither route is working these days.

    Hi, I hope you are working with an experienced lawyer. In case of hardship waivers, you have to submit your case to both USCIS and DOS. It looks like your lawyer only submitted the case to USCIS but not DOS. Without submitting your case to DOS, your case will never be processed even if USCIS finds exceptional hardship in your case. Maybe your lawyer is waiting for a positive outcome from USCIS before filing your case with DOS, which is fine too. But if you are short of time, ask your lawyer to file DOS now as well, as DOS might take a long time just to acknowledge receipt of your case. Once he files case with DOS, he can give you a DOS tracking number which you can use on DOS online portal. Good luck!

    Is anybody else here whose change of address request was delivered two months ago to the DOS but not uploaded on the portal? I also emailed it to them a month ago, but they neither responded nor uploaded. I think my case is supeeeerrrr slowwww for some reason.

    In my case, (I am also at 17 months mark with DoS), I tried to expedite with DoS using several evidences, it was denied. Later I used senator's office for 2-3 times, they all got generic response. From the last 5 months, I haven't done any expedite seeing its useless.

    There was a similar case as yours a few months ago and the DOS didn't ask for sponsor views again.

    I submitted my case to USCIS and DOS in October 2021 and DOS shows document received in February 2022. So they are following the same pattern even after one year like in your case. For the next step, USCIS forwarded documents to DOS in March 2022 but DOS showed them as received in August 2022. I am still pending. The recent approval in this group has exactly same timeline as mine and got a decision. So it's very random process. Each case is treated differently. No patterns can be drawn.

    Congratulations. The nightmare is over for you. Can you please tell when you sent the case to USCIS and when your I-612/I-613 were forwarded to DOS?

    Passport data page missing doesn't mean application is incomplete. If there is something missing DOS sends incomplete information letter to applicants which also shows up in the portal. So, its more like delays on DOS side.

    This person must have started this process in start of 2021 and waiting till today. Timeline going above 2 years now.
