Nothing other than it is under AP and that visa unit will contact us if anything else is needed. What prompts them to put the case in AP when approved already? Sigh...

What does administrative processing mean when ir5 interview was verbally approved? Officer said expect visa within 2 weeks. It's been 4 weeks and when inquiring embassy (montreal), they said case is currently under administrative processing....

My dad had ir5 interview in Montreal and was verbally approved. Officer said 2 weeks for visa to retirn and kept his passport. It's been 4 weeks and nothing (status still Ready). I emailed embassy and they said case is in administrative processing and to wait. What does this mean? No slip was given at interview. Just verbal approval.

Hello everyone, My dad had his IR5 interview in Montreal, Canada Apr 4, 2023. Was verbally approved by the officer and was told to expect passport back with visa in about 2 weeks. They kept his passport and just police certificate. There was a holiday in between, but have not received anything yet. Visa status still says Ready, as of Apr 11. How long does it typically take to get the visa stamped?

Wow, congrats! That sounds like it went really smoothly. I hope the same happens with my dad's case at least.

No she specifically asked about other countries. She already answered correctly regarding the US issue, and officer said that is not a problem now. And then she asked about other countries. That is why my mom got confused and said no because she didn't recall any other visas.

Good evening! So, my dad had his interview (same history as my mom), and officer approved him. They kept his police reports and passport. Expect to receive passport in a couple weeks. My mom obviously has been very stressed about the way her interview went, but in a way relieved that my dad got approved despite the same 5 year expedited removal history. Officer did not even ask my dad about this. Anyway, as my mom as thinking of all her responses, she does think she made 1 mistake. Officer asked her if any other Visa to any other country was ever denied. She replied, no, because that is what she thought. But thinking back 30+ years ago, she remembers getting her Japan travel visa denied (via a travel agency at that time) - we do not know the reason for the denial. She didnt pursue further at that point. This occured when lived in Korea (Korean national). She now worries this could be the discrepancy? She truly did not remember. Any experience from the others if this is the concern, will there be a way to appeal or correct this? It was an unintentional false response. She truly did not remember at that time. I inquired my lawyer and he is at a loss as well...

Even the x's look the same. You and my mother must've had the same consul.... Fingers crossed and lots of prayer for both of our cases....

Hi there, My mother had her ir5 interview there yesterday and was handed out the same white slip to her. Her passport was returned as well. Do u mind if you share what your slip actually looks like? Hers looks like this. We also do not really know what this was given. Officer just said wait for their email...

We went over this particular incident with our lawyer from the start and he said that it should not pose a problem as the 5 years way passed and they've been in and out of the US frequently over the last 2 decades. What I now worry is, could the basis of the expedited removal be based on fraud or misrepresentation? I mean I'm sure it involved some sort of lying when they were interviewed at the port of entry and eventually got caught for saying they are 'working' at their brother's business. Npbody remebers the full details other than that they were found to be working on the wrong visa. If that is the case though, would that hold a permanent inadmissibility, even though they said 5 yrs? But wouldn't that have not allowed them to travel to the US all these times... ugh so many thoughts.

Yes we used a lawyer. I'm not sure what the original charge was in 1998. But they basically were working at my uncle's business for a few months as a visitor. Caused expedited removal at Port of entry for 5 years. 5 years passed and all was fine after.

Ugh... so is this the dreaded administrative processing that others talk about which can take unknown amount of time?

Could anybody help offer any insight from any previous similar experience? I am sponsoring my Canadian parents. My mom had her IR5 interview in Montreal today. My parents have history of visa cancellation and 5 year bar (was not allowed to re-enter US) in 1998 for working at their relative's business in the US on a visitor visa (stayed less than 6 months). They served their 5 year completely and resided in Canada ever since. All that ended, they've been traveling to US for leisure multiple times the past almost 20 years. This incident has been written about everywhere - on their I-130 and ds-260. The officer at the interview asked my mom about the visa cancellation. Officer first said visa cancellation should not affect this. Then she proceeded to look further in her computer. She then asked did she ever have any other visas canceled, or canadian visa canceled, etc, which my mom said no. the officer looked a little confused, then eventually said, she needed to look further into this, and my mom may be scheduled for another interview, but to just be on the lookout for an email. officer returned her documents and passport. She left with a 221g. and her online status says "refusal" at this time. My mom also said that her finger printing had a hard time transferring. Also as a FYI, her USCIS security check was randomly placed on a very unusually long limbo - lawyer said her name may be common and may have needed additional time for processing. Does the 5 year bar have anything to do with this? We went over this case over and over with our lawyer, and we just cannot find any reason for inadmissibility. Is it also telling at all that all of her docs/passport were returned?? So devastated... I thought this would be all done and over with today. My dad's interview is next week. Lawyer said at this point, we have to wait. And for my dad to still go into his interview- hope for a better outcome for him. Any insight will be SO helpful. please help!

Did you have your interview yet? My parents are in the same boat for this week. They are scheduled on different days. How were the questions if you already had it?

I've read on this thread that some parents were interviewed together? Was this Montreal? My mom got her interview scheduled for March 2023, but my dad is behind by about a month (DQ date) and has not received an appointment yet. Is it standard for parents to be interviewed separately?

Hi everyone, I am petitioning my parents, and my mom is the first to get her interview scheduled for end of March 2023 in Montreal. For anyone else interested, it took about 2.5months since being DQ to get the interview appointment. My dad's appointment has not come yet. He is about a month behind her (since being DQ). Anyone have experience getting interviews done here? What are the types of questions asked or expected? Any advice are welcome! Thank you in advance!

Any idea how to contact the Montreal consulate? I used the generic email that is on their website and they said that they are not the consulate.. I plan to try the phone number listed next.

Hi, My mom was DQ-ed Nov 11, 2022, and my dad was DQ-ed today (Dec 16). Lawyer advised me it is at this stage I would try to contact Montreal to request that they be interviewed together. They are 7-8 hours away from Montreal. Has anyone done this? Should I email their office or call? Or do they know the 2 cases are linked and schedule together automatically?

Hello, I got 2 back to back emails tonight. One saying status changed, and the other notifying we are DQ-ed. However, when I checked on the website, there is no new message, and the documents I re-scanned and uploaded in Nov are still saying "submitted". Should I wait a little longer for the website to update? Is it safe to assume we are truly DQ-ed? Thank you
