  1. And I am saying if you’ve waited 18 months, just use a service that guarantees embassy acceptance, rather than hoping your own translation will pass. It’s a risk not using a service. Better to be safe than sorry. My post is a warning for others who are on the fence about their documents. They didn’t say that her skills were insufficient, they said she wasn’t allowed to do it herself.
  2. That statement was taken from this forum, we did not write it ourselves. Further, it was for her birth certificate; very straightforward to translate as it’s 99% one or two words translated in each box.
  3. Again, it was based on feedback in this forum that we had her do it herself, such as this thread:
  4. At Malaysian embassy our K-1 app was just refused due to needing certified translation of birth certificate (only document that we needed to translate). Based on guidance in this forum, we had her complete the translation and provide her own signed certificate and they advised it was insufficient and she could not do it herself.
  5. Application refused. They advised that she is not allowed to translate her own documents (despite other guidance from this forum), so she is going to have to seek someone else to certify the translation. Further they wanted an additional copy of divorce decree; they were provided an original only. Scrambling to try and get paperwork together today and mailed if possible.
  6. I’m a wreck right now. Interview appointment is in 10 hours. My partner and I have been reviewing basic questions for the past week. She does okay on most of them, but despite having met three times in person now she cannot seem to get the dates correct when we practice. She gets them all mixed up in her replies. I have a feeling we aren’t going to get approved. I don’t know what else to do to help her remember. We will talk again when she wakes up but I can’t take the interview for her.
  7. Hi. My partner and I finally have our interview next week. She’s in a country where homosexuality is not legal. I want to be able to prepare her if she should expect any questions specific to her sexuality. Would it be any issue if she isn’t openly out to a lot of people?
  8. Well we paused things for a while because we tried to have my fiancées name changed before proceeding. Unfortunately her country denied the name change request (after a very long 3 months), so we’re going to go ahead with things. It’s a bummer we won’t be able to share a legal last name chosen together. Anyways, we did get an interview scheduled on 12/19. Nervous and excited. Pending confirmation on a date for the medical exam, but they did say they should be able to get her in shortly. Hopefully by the end of December we will have the best Christmas gift we could ask for. 🙏🙏🙏
  9. Y’know what I don’t understand about this whole process is why USCIS hasn’t reduced the overall processing time down from 16.5 months. It’s definitely improved from that point - I think for May they hit the 80% mark at around 13 months (most cases were finished by mid June), and it’s just improved from there. I see Sept 2022 folks getting approved at or before 12 months. I think they just don’t want people to be able to submit inquiries, which is shitty.
  10. NOA1: 05/19/2022 NOA2: 08/01/2023 NVC Rcvd: 08/28/2023 Case # Rcvd: 9/14/2023 Case READY: 9/27/2023 Idk how I couldn’t find this on the DHL hack but we’re going with iiiiit!
  11. I wonder why they would do that. 😟 I can’t imagine it poses any security threats or anything.
  12. Our case status was updated to In Transit today, should go out with 9/26 batch.
  13. This must be heartbreaking… really wishing the best for you both. 😔
  14. The I-134 is completed and a signed scanned copy can be sent to your partner to print and take to the interview. I would wait though til closer to the interview date to complete and send it to them; USCIS updates their forms periodically and if she happens to bring an outdated form it will cause problems. My I-129F, I had actually filled it out in early March 2022, but due to delays in some paperwork I needed for evidence I wasn’t able to submit it until May 2022. I double checked USCIS’s website before mailing only to find that they had just released a new version of the I-129F. Had to redo that before mailing… very glad I thought to check.
  15. Congrats!! Should move a bit quicker through these next steps. 😁
  16. Can someone help me figure out what the correct DHL hack formats are for this month? Is it EXP 12 SEPT 2023A or EXP 12 SEP 2023A Something else ?
  17. NOA1: 05/19/2022 NOA2: 08/01/2023 NVC Rcvd: 08/28/2023 Case # Rcvd: 9/14/2023
  18. Hi all - I noticed that the status bulletin from the NVC has stated they are working on cases from 7/19 for the past three Mondays. Has anyone noticed any delays in case numbers being assigned?
  19. Congratulations!! Beautiful couple! It will be worth the wait. ☺️❤️
  20. Wow I wonder how that’s possible. I was waiting to make a second inquiry bc their website says they are working on cases received July 19th, and mine couldn’t have shipped to them before it was approved on 8/1 🤔
  21. Good news today! Response from NVCResearch. NOA2 - 8/1 NVC Received - 8/28
  22. Since the NVC is about a week behind on replying to emails, I’m submitting my first inquiry today. 🤞 Hopefully they have our case received already!
