I-751 February 2025 Filers
jp1000 replied to amu24's topic in Removing Conditions on Residency General Discussion
Adding myself to this thread. As of today 2/25 I received the notice that my greencard is extended 48 months. Biometrics waived also. -
Wanted to give a little update on this (in case anybody cares). I did get the notice to extend my Greencard by 48 months in my USCIS online portal today, and I can see on the letter it does in fact have my new address so I expect it will show up in the mail before the end of the week, if not, next week. The quick processing would have worked out alright for me in this instance if they hadn't updated my address, as I'm still under a lease for the old apartment through April. Thye also sent another notice letting me know that they can re-use my old biometrics and I won't need to attend another one, which is nice. Now I'll just wait until next year when I can file my N-400. Onwards!

I don't plan to travel I mostly just want to have the paper for when I come to apply for citizenship next year. And to have some kind of proof that I am indeed legally present. As for the old address, it's an apartment and the property managers are about as useful as a catflap on a submarine. I'm not holding out much hope that them, or the new tenants would be of any help to me.

I sent off my I-751 packet and then moved. Already changed my address on USCIS website. Will my old address being on the papers override it? Feb 5 - Mailed papers (with old address) Feb 7 - Moved Feb 10 - Updated address with USCIS Feb 11 - Packet arrived (per USPS tracking) Is there a procedure for this? I'm thinking they won't process my papers for a while but when they do will they revert back to my old address or honor the new one I updated on the site?

Hi all, Hoping for some advice. I received a letter telling me I need to update my driver license. Driver license expires 2/20/2025. My greencard expires 4/28/2025. My window to submit my i-751 to extend my greencard opens 1/28/2025. Am I right in thinking I should submit my i-751, wait for the processing letter that informs me that while my application is in process my greencard is good for another 4 years, and THEN go to the DMV to renew my DL? Thanks!

Is there a way to move my UK pension to the US?
jp1000 replied to jp1000's topic in Tax & Finances During US Immigration
You can transfer it from UK -> Malta -> US? Are there any guides on this? -
I have a pension with Nest. It doesn't have much in it, a little over £6,000, but I would like to roll this over into the US, either into my 401k or into an IRA. Does anybody have any experience with this? I've been trying to read up on it online but have not really been able to find any solid answers, at least that I understand.

I have had my conditional greencard approved and so don't need to deal with USCIS until the i751. When I entered the US on my K1 I handed the inspection officer my packet and after examining it he asked me a few questions, one of which was asking me to explain the casual drugs use. I've never used drugs and told him as such, there was something scrawled that I glanced I could just barely see 'casual drugs' - all that I can think of is that in the medical I was asked if I used drugs and said no and maybe they wrote that down in bad handwriting. But he also asked me if it had anything to do with being arrested - I've never been arrested and told him that too. Clean police certificate. I didn't press it at the time because I went from thinking he was making a joke, to 'uh #######?', to being relieved he let me in really fast and never gave it much thought. But I'm really curious to see if that's in my USCIS file and to see if I can make any sense of it. I'm also quite curious how much of my initial K1 packet is in my USCIS file, including if they have my spouses divorce cert because they gave me a 221(g) for that but then issued the visa before I could send it to them. But this is just me being nosey. So I'd like to do a FOIA but I'm nervous that it could be some kind of 'red flag' when I come to file i761 or n-400 - does anybody know?
