Hi All, I had my interview today and got approved. As everyone suggested: Uploading documents to CEAC portal prior to your interview - highly recommended. Going more than 15 minutes to your appointment - NOT recommended (there was crazy wind and snow today and they still didn’t let anyone in) No personal items - Only small locker for phones and wallet My appointment was at 7:45 AM and i went there at 7:30 and they let me in. After 20-30 minutes wait, i was called in and asked only for following documents: - birth certificate - marriage certificate - police clearance - passport - passport size photo ( 2 X 2 ) And took my fingerprints. After that i was told to wait for the main interview. The officer i had was really friendly and asked following questions: Who’s sponsoring you? Where does my wife lives? What does she do for living? What is my relationship with my joint sponsor? At the end she told me that she is approving my file and I will receive my passport in two weeks. Overall much easier experience than what i was prepared for. Always good to be prepared but my impression is that it is more of a verification and 2nd level check for your documentation than an actual interview. Thanks everyone who helped me get prepared.

@ash_1337Congratulations 🎉 Can you please share your document check list? I have my interview scheduled on 4th Dec. My wife's income is not sufficient, so I have 1 joint sponsor and his spouse in I-864 so does that mean I have to fill 3 forms again and have it signed by my wife and other two joint sponsors? I have following changes: - I have become Canadian Citizen and gave up my Indian citizenship. - My Canadian address has been changed - my wife’s address has also changed. - she also has an U.S. passport. - My wife and I both have changed our Jobs as well. Looking at what you said in your post, do I have to fill my DS-260 also due to above changes? I was thinking of uploading my Canadian and her US passport on ceac portal. And update our addresses during the interview.

Congratulations 🎉 Any specific documentation checklist you can share? I have an interview at 4th Dec I have following changes: - I have become Canadian Citizen and gave up my Indian citizenship. - My Canadian address has been changed - my wife’s address has also changed. - she also has an U.S. passport. i am thinking of uploading my Canadian and her US passport on ceac portal. And update our addresses during the interview.

Yes, I have made couple in past month. One for changing the category from F2A to IR1 and the second one is to just check on the process and how long it will take.

So In that case, you are suggesting that I should be expecting an interview from Montreal Embassy in next round? I do have a DQ email from Oct 3rd 2022 so I think it aligns with what you said.
-
Folks, I was originally DQ'd on 3rd October 2021 but then recently I updated my wife's naturalization certificate on CEAC portal and also sent a public inquiry stating that she has become the US Citizen with document attached. NVC has replied back in just a week that they have updated my file from F2A to IR1 on 25th September 2023, I have confirmed that on CEAC portal it now shows IR1 However under my wife's document section on portal the uploaded naturalization certificate still shows "Submitted" where as other documents are showing as "Accepted". Does that mean my new DQ date is now 25th September 2023? and it will take 4-5 months time for me to receive the interview letter?

Gaining Canadian Citizenship after becoming a US LPR - Success!

Thanks for your response! I think what you said does makes sense however I have couple of specific questions regarding that: 1. Upload the new Canadian passport to the ceac portal. Also upload your citizenship certificate. While uploading, should I select document type - OTHER OR PASSPORT BIOGRAPHIC PAGE? the reason why I am asking is because I already have uploaded my Indian passport using PASSPORT BIOGRAPHIC PAGE when I applied. 2. Take both your Canadian and Indian passport to the doctor for medical. Inform the doctor that your Canadian passport is the one you will be using going forward. Noted 3. Take an amended DS-260 with your nationality updated as Canadian, and your new Canadian passport number. Highlight the changes and show it to the CO during your interview. By amend you mean I should update the current DS-260(which I submitted earlier) and highlight the amended part, print it and bring it with me. Correct? -
Gaining Canadian Citizenship after becoming a US LPR - Success!

Apologies if I am appearing a little dumb here. I read the thread, Great Information! Thanks @mam521 for sharing. My situation is a bit premature than what is being discussed and I am wondering if folks have some guidance for my situation. Recently became Canadian citizen (was Indian citizen until last week). Same story, once I become Canadian citizen I can not retain my Indian passport as India doesn't allow dual citizenship. I have an IR1 application in progress at MTL Embassy and I am expecting an interview letter in next 30 days. My question is, what would be the best way for me to notify the MTL Embassy/USCIS about this? So far the plan is to just take the Canadian passport with me to the interview LOL. @Maverick_TO @Kai G. Llewellyn @VIR CHAMP @jpfashizzle -
Also if the more experienced folks have any advise for me on following situation, I would greatly appreciate. @mam521 @llcoolwil @Leo The Great @NorthnerSouth98 I have recently become Canadian citizen so I am trying to figure out how to notify MTL Embassy about that. My previous citizenship was Indian which I can not retain once I accept other So basically I had an Indian passport when I applied but now that changed to Canadian one.

I am expecting my interview letter in the next round as well. My DQ date is on Oct 5th 2022 and my wife has recently became a US citizen so we had our file category changed from F2A to IR1 (which is already reflecting on CEAC Portal). Hoping for best!

Hi Guys, I have some sort of a strange situation: Currently my spousal application category is F2A and I have been document qualified since October 2022 (PD: Sept 2021). I am an Indian citizen and Canadian PR. Now, my wife has her US Citizenship oath scheduled this month and I have my Canadian citizenship oath scheduled around same time. So I am expecting following instances to happen in about 2-3 months: My wife will submit a form to change our spousal application from F2A to IR1. (not sure how long that will take with MTL embassy) - May need some guidance from experts in the group on how to do it and if there anything I have to avoid. I have to decide if I can take the Canadian citizenship or not as I do have an option to reschedule the oath. If I take the Canadian citizenship oath, then I need to know what changes I have to make in my US Spousal application and what could be the consequences (positive or negative). Of Couse this is beside the fact that I have to apply for Canadian passport which will take about a month to come. - I read somewhere that if do change my citizenship while I am waiting for the IL, I have to notify NVC which will trigger the DQ cycle again and other option is to wait for IL once my application category changes from F2A to IR1 and reach out to MTL embassy and request them to open DS-260 form so I can make changes in my citizenship status. Given that I make the right choices what are the timeline I am looking for to reunite with my wife as it has been almost 2 years and my priority is to do that in a quickest Legal way, LOL. If any of the expert can offer their wisdom I would greatly appreciate. @Blueeyes1989 @ks7608 @Har123

You mean your DQ is 10/17/2021 or 10/17/2022? I DQd on 5th Oct 2022 but I haven’t received anything.

So looking at the historical visa bulletins, i see that last time F2A was “not current” in June 2019 and since there it remained current so this will be a long ride looks like. Such a stressful day! I was so close and no where near now 🙄.

Thanks for your response! However my PCC does not have fingerprints either. What do you mean when you say "Some people do not get the fingerprints for Canada PCC, that's why at the interview they ask to resubmit a new one with fingerprints."?
