Took me a month from NVC received to get my case number. Stay patient and keep inquiring. What's your embassy again? DS-160 is fine to submit. Scheduling the appointment depends on your embassy's way of doing things.

One good way to see this is by looking at VJ timelines. See here for Qatar. Here for UAE. Once your I-129f petition is approved, consider 2-3 months for NVC stage. Then once your petition is shipped, it seems that Qatar is taking about 1-2 months for interviews and UAE about 2-3 months.

So your case is ready for more than a month, that is good that you're over the NVC phase and moved on to the embassy, but one month after ready with no info, that worries me. I don't know much about the Bahamas process but I am researching my groups and contacts. I know that you should not take any CEAC/NVC messages in regard. You probably already see that the immigrant visa and the non-immigrant visa lines gets blurred. Officially, K1 is non-immigrant. But CEAC treats it as an immigrant visa (the CEAC tracker issue you just described). So all the info there regarding interviews and documents is made for immigrant visas, which pay fees and sends docs to NVC. Not our case. We don't send anything to NVC, we don't pay fees, and we only use CEAC to fill out DS-160 (non-immigrant form) and to check our status (selecting immigrant). NVC only serves as a bridge between USCIS and the embassy in our case. They don't bother to update the info specifically to K1, making people confused. Ok, so you're case is the embassy, so you should forget getting anything else from NVC if you already got the K1-FTP. I assume all the info on K1-FTP is correct, names, receipt numbers, and embassy, right? When it comes to the embassy phase, everything gets really specific to the embassy. Also, every embassy website is different and MANY embassies will also list K1 as an immigrant visa even though it's not. That seems like the case for the Bahamas embassy website. But this is what I do for my country and I know many others that work the same, we do it all when it turns ready, and then have enough time between scheduling and interview for the embassy to contact us. If we don't do this, then we lose about 2 weeks waiting for the embassy to indeed contact us. I can't tell you if Nassau works the same way. Another important thing. To schedule the interview, you need to have DS-160 completed and submitted. Did you already do this? If not, go ahead and do it now. One thing that always made me confused about this whole process was how the embassy would know my email to contact me - I saw everywhere that my embassy would send me the welcome letter/packet 3 by email but my email wasn't known to them at all. I think this is a huge failure in the system. They expected me to fill DS-160, even though filling DS-160 is a part of the welcome letter/packet 3 instructions. So I didn't know anything about filling DS-160, I would be waiting forever for their contact. Maybe it's the same case for Nassau. They expect you to know you gotta fill DS-160, and then they get the beneficiary's email from there. So go ahead and fill DS-160. There's no harm to it. Unfortunately, VJ embassy information is not up to date for Nassau. I would keep searching for people who are going to the same embassy. I would fill DS-160, submit it, go to AIS, schedule the interview and then I would keep emailing the embassy so they can send you the packet 3 (email with instructions), but with an interview date (schedule it with enough time for the embassy to reach out). Yes, there are only 4 doctors in Brazil that you can go to. I also think Ayrton was saying that it didn't need to be in Rio if the interview is in Rio, could be in the other 3 places as well. Since this post, I collected information from other sources and from the doctors. Unfortunately, I had to re-schedule my interview because neither the Rio or São Paulo doctor had available dates before my interview. I chose to go to Rio because I will already be there and because it's the fastest one to send documents to the embassy. Some things I know now for the sake of information (if anyone is seeking answers and stumbles across this thread): - Rio doctor says the embassy doesn't allow them to schedule medicals after the interview (I thought I could go into AP while they waited to get the doctor's results). - Rio doctor wants you to do the exams beforehand, at least 3 days before. - São Paulo doctor has all the exams in one day only, but you have to go back in 30 days to his office to collect X-Ray results. Takes a while for the results to reach the embassy. - Brasília doctor also has it all in one day but the transfer from them to the embassy takes time because of the exam results. - Belo Horizonte doctor will only schedule anything with the embassy's packet 3 e-mail. Couldn't get more info. - Rio and SP doctors require the Covid booster.

What do you know about your case so far? I'm trying to understand it too so I can see if I can help. What do you call a "weird notice of NVC sending your information off"? An email to the petitioner with an attachment called K1-FTP? Do you have your case number (you should if you got that email above)? What is the status of your case number on CEAC? At NVC, In Transit or Ready? What is your fiancé's embassy? Do they let you schedule your interview as soon as it's ready or not? You don't submit anything to NVC ever. They just forward your case to your embassy.

Yes, you can. But you have 30 days to complete your application once you start – if you aren't finished/you haven't submitted in those 30 days, then you gotta start again. Just don't submit it until at least your case is in transit. I have mine ready to go, filled it Friday, just waiting for my case to get to "Ready" status so I submit it and schedule my interview using the DS-160 application number. You don't need the NVC case number, they only ask you for WAC number.

I can try to find out but *most* embassies will send you instructions only and you gotta show up with all the right documents at the moment of the interview. The only ones I know for certain that need documents sent to them by email before the interview are Montreal and Tokyo.

Ok, more info I just got: everything comes by email for ND. The only thing that comes by mail is the K1-FTP that is kinda useless and you also get it by email. Seems you don't need for the P3 to wait to schedule the interview, but I would confirm first with the embassy. Maybe they end up sending you the P3 quickly this way.

And even though my embassy also tells me to wait and all, we don't and it works. But I can't say anything about others, don't want to give out wrong info here. Everything now depends on the embassy. Your timeline is not filled but I am assuming it's Amsterdam looking at your posts? I only know one person that went through there. I know Amsterdam received the K1-FTP by mail as well (Italy too). But you already got it, so no worries. I am unsure about packet 3 but *most* embassies send out the P3 by email only. When it comes to DS-160, you do need to inform your travel history to US in there. So you'll be missing one trip if you do travel after submitting it. I am really not sue if this will be an issue or not, I don't think so but maybe the consular officer may ask about it. I think it all boils down to the fact that your embassy would let you or not schedule the interview before the packet 3. If they do allow you, then you'd be losing time if you waited on the packet 3 to arrive by email. Are you able to reach out to other people going through the same embassy to find out? I'll see if I can reach to the one I know.

DS-160 is ok to submit, scheduling the interview depends on how your embassy works. Best to wait until CEAC shows "ready". Some embassies also want you to send some documents before the interview, for those you do gotta wait until they reach out. Your embassy doesn't let you schedule the interview once it turns to ready? :(( I am sorry. Same situation as @FilledesEtoiles it seems. You can fill and submit DS-160 now, no problem at all. Not sure about scheduling the interview, depends on your embassy. Also, note that the fee for us K1s is not $160 (it's actually $185 now for non-immigrant visas). Our fee is $265.

Yes!!! Congratulations! Finally! Hoping you make the shipment next week with all of us (you have to!!!). The email you will get from NVC is about them shipping it to your embassy. Hopefully next week you will get it. You can start filling DS-160. I would just say to wait to submit it when you case is shipped or turns ready, just in case.

Not a mistake, this is standard. Check June/May/April NOA2s threads to see. Things are getting faster so it makes sense it was faster to you too! Now, hold to that received date and make them take accountability of that in every inquiry. Tell them you got confirmation it was received on X date, attach the email too along with your NOA2, etc. Don't let them tell you they don't have it after they told you they did. Hope you get a case number soon!

I actually was wrong on the fancy paper. I have a lawyer and he never told me the official notices go to him, so I thought everyone had a simple notice like me. Just discovered this last week so I am sorry for telling you misinformation. However, apart from this, all the rest I said applies. It's just another model of notices that may be just USCIS making a mistake. All K1 cases go to NVC, no way of escaping this. Hoping you get your NVC received and case number soon! June and July NOA2s are getting it way faster than before.

Weekly after day 30 post NOA2 until I got the received. Then after the received, I’d send another public inquiry right after they replied to my previous one. Kept the cycle going until I got my case number.

NVCResearch email is what @xxxxx77 shared above. But I haven't seen anyone get a case number from them, but in your situation I'd try. I didn't even get an answer from them last time I tried to get a case number. Keep pushing on the public inquiries though. Have they been answering you at all? With the whole "we received, case waiting for data entry" message?!

I think you are seeing people get EAD/AP approved in a few months, way before the AOS/GC gets approved and it's indeed happening. I see it all time time on FB and there are a few timelines here where people got it in around 5 months. Just like I-129F processing times, the AP processing times on USCIS are still not reflecting newer processing times. The median that is updated frequently shows the speed up better, but note it's across all offices: https://egov.uscis.gov/processing-times/historic-pt However, it's worth noting that the processing times take in consideration 80% of the cases in the past 6 months, and the median is what it is, the middle number. So if there is one person approved in 1 month and another in 10 months, then they will show the median is 5.5 months. Does not mean everyone will have AP in 5.5 months. You can't be sure that you are going to be processed quickly in order for your fiancé to get pregnant and fly to her country and give birth without losing all the AOS process/having to apply for spousal later. No one here can guarantee you it's going to be given in time. Maybe it's better to guarantee AP or the GC and then get pregnant and then plan it better for her to have her family support back in her country. Just a suggestion :))

Hate to say you are right. Nothing is ever easy! hahaha Well, glad we have other resources and can figure out by ourselves/learning with prior approved filers and past experiences. Or else I'd be even more lost. Hope your embassy reaches out soon!

I also believe they get the email from DS-160. But think about it... how would you know you need to fill DS-160 before the embassy sends you the packet 3 that tell you the instructions on how to proceed, instructions that start with "fill DS-160"? Most embassies have a terrible website that do not explain anything and take you to travel.state.gov's page that is also a bit confusing and doesn't tell you to fill DS-160 as soon as your case reaches the embassy (not in a clearer way, anyway). That can be so confusing for people without any other source of information like we have here and in other channels. They would need to personally contact the embassy to find out and not all embassies are easy to contact. On top of that, all CEAC/NVC messages are also targeted to immigrant visas. Anyway, they just assume you will research outside sources, which is not ideal in a process. It's either a fail or I am missing something.

You do not need a case number for public inquiries, they ask for your receipt number, that is your WAC number from USCIS. You also won’t get a welcome letter. You will get an email (if you’re the petitioner) when the case has been shipped to your embassy that resembles a letter, this email is called K1-FTP. If you get a case number from inquiry, then you can track it on CEAC so you won’t need to keep waiting for this email/you will know when you case got created and what is the status of it before the email.
