  1. As an update, I sent each RFE response in separately and my GC was approved with no further issues.
  2. I am a Canadian citizen who recently became a US permanent resident. I have a Registered Pension Plan (not RRSP) back in Canada from my previous job. This is an account where my employer matched my contributions and it also accumulated investment gains. It continues to grow with investments but I am obviously no longer actively contributing to it as an employee. Due to provincial rules, I cannot withdraw the RPP until I have been a non-resident of Canada for two years, which I am not yet. However, I am not sure I want to withdraw it at this time due to the gains. Are there any US tax obligations if I leave the RPP intact until I can withdraw it?
  3. As an update I presented the green card and passport to the CBP agent and it went fine. I just handed him both documents. I did not have to show the green card to airline staff.
  4. Thank you, also I should have clarified in my post that I will be going through customs at CBP preclearance at a Canadian airport
  5. I recently got my Green Card. I travelled back to Canada to visit my family. I am heading back to the US in a few days. I am wondering at what point we present the green card when we fly home- I know we present it at customs but do we also have to present it to airline staff when checking in and boarding the plane? Or do we just check in as usual with our foreign passport and just present the GC at customs?
  6. I just wanted to provide an update: yesterday my I-485 was approved!! Regarding the two separate RFEs I received, I ended up mailing the responses in separately as this is what a MyUSCIS chat agent advised to do. Timeline: Dec 3 - Filed AOS package to Phoenix, AZ lockbox via USPS Dec 5 - USPS tracking shows "delivered" Dec 9 - Received three receipt texts from USCIS Dec 10 - Check cashed, also case status showed that my biometrics were scheduled Dec 12 - the three hard copy NOAs arrived in the mail Dec 15 -online access code arrived in mail Dec 16 - biometrics letter arrived in mail Dec 28 - biometrics appointment, then after appointment i-485 and i-765 case statuses update to "being actively reviewed" Dec 29 - i-765 case status updates to "card is being produced" Jan 6 - got EAD card in the mail May 30 - Received RFE(s) July 5 - Mailed in RFE responses (USPS) July 12 - RFE responses received by USCIS October 3 - I-485 Approved
  7. Update: I was able to connect with a live agent on USCIS chat and they advised to send them separately. Mailing them together was what I had originally planned to do though (and makes the most sense to me) but I guess I'll go with what they say.
  8. I recently received two individual RFEs in the mail, both dated May 30, each in their own envelope. I thought this was a bit unusual. -One RFE is asking for proof of marital life since our wedding. -The other RFE is asking for a copy of my husband's birth certificate (which we did include in the initial application, but w/e) Both RFE letters mention that I can either upload the evidence online or mail it in. However, logging into myUSCIS, only the RFE for proof of marital life is posted. There is clearly a "respond to notice" action next to the document link. Ideally I would like to respond to both online, but since it looks like you have to do this by clicking on the adjacent "respond to notice" action, and there isn't anything posted there for the other RFE, I'm not sure I can do this. The other option is obviously to send them in by mail, but I am not sure how to do that in a way that meets USCIS' approval. Can I send both RFEs in one packet or should I mail them in separately? Or, should I respond to the marital life one online and send the other in via mail? I know I'm likely overthinking this, but I don't want to risk the birth certificate RFE somehow getting lost through the cracks. Can anyone advise how I should respond to the RFEs, or maybe someone has been in a similar situation.
  9. Update on my case: I got not one, but two separate RFEs on May 30. One is for proof of shared marital life - bank statements, bills, affidavits, etc. This was mailed to me and also visible online on myUSCIS. The other one, received via mail only, is for a copy of my US Citizen spouse's birth certificate - which we did include in the original application 😕. I am confused as to why this one was not visible on myUSCIS, and why they wouldn't just combine them all into one RFE. I'm not sure if I should upload the evidence online or mail them, since there's two I want to avoid confusion and make sure they get both.
  10. I’m grateful I got my EAD but there’s been no update since then, not even for RFE (not that I WANT to get an RFE, but it seems that the majority of people get them and it’s a sign that things are progressing)…has anyone else had no updates for a while?
  11. I received my EAD card in the mail on January 6. It comes in a priority mail envelope. I was worried that I might have to sign for it, because our local USPS office is weird about delivering packages that require a signature to apartments. But no signature was required, they delivered it right to the mailbox. Also, after getting the tracking number on USPS Informed delivery, myUSCIS did update shortly after with the tracking info as well.
  12. I have a couple of updates since yesterday: Jan 3: Recieved physical NOA in mail about EAD card being approved Jan 3: Got a USCIS status update that my EAD card had been produced. I signed into my USPS Informed Delivery account and under the "packages" tab it looks like a tracking number has been created for the package, it just hasn't arrived at USPS yet(?). However, no tracking number has been provided on myUSCIS yet. So, I really recommend signing up for USPS Informed Delivery.
  13. I also just got approved for the EAD! That was fast. Was hoping for the combo card of EAD/AP, but oh well.
  14. Lol, I was curious so I looked, the agent did not seem to care at all 😅 they were pretty chill. thank you so much for that info! That is a bit more reassuring. I didn’t have any “red” so hopefully it’s all good
  15. I just had my biometrics appointment today. Immediately after my appointment my case status changed to “case is being actively reviewed by USCIS”. also as an aside, when the agent was taking my fingerprints, some fingers prompted a green (good) message on the screen and others prompted an orange alert. I hope that having some “orange” fingers won’t cause any problems. (If this makes no sense you’ll understand when you get your biometrics and look at the screen when they take your fingerprints 😆)
  16. It will come in the mail separately likely in a few days. If not, someone in the November thread posted this link to request an online access code: https://my.uscis.gov/account/v1/needhelp I actually tried it and got a reply the next day with the access code, but my physical copy ended up showing up in the mail that day anyway.
  17. I got my physical copy of my biometrics notice just before the weekend- so if you’re impatient and have anxiety about the mail like me lol don’t worry it will come
  18. I received a letter today from USCIS with an online access code to set up an account on myUSCIS. I was able to see the biometrics appointment date/time letter in my online account; the physical copy still hasn’t arrived
  19. Update: -Received three receipt texts Friday Dec 9 -Check was cashed Saturday Dec 10 -Also on Saturday Dec 10, USCIS Case status shows that my biometrics were scheduled and that a notice has been sent -Received three hard copy NOAs in the mail on Monday Dec 12. No biometrics letter yet.. Again for reference I filed to the Phoenix lockbox, also I live in AZ so not sure how times differ for various other states.
  20. I filed my AOS package (I-485, I-141, I-765) on December 3rd and just got the receipt notification texts from USCIS this morning. However; they haven’t cashed our check yet. Is this normal? In most cases I’ve seen, they don’t sent the NOAs until the check is cashed.
  21. Just got my three texts - at 5am 🤣 They haven't cashed the check yet, which is weird because most people get their check cashed first it seems
  22. Filed with USPS to Phoenix PO Box: Dec 3 USPS tracking shows delivered: Dec 5 No NOA1 texts yet.
