Folks, this legal-immigration process is dysfunctional at best and broken at worst.  The tension and frustration become unbearable, seemingly with no way to fight against it or relieve it.  Please remain unfailingly supportive of each other.  Remember that if you hold one pencil and snap it, it will break; conversely, if you hold a handful of pencils and try to snap them, they'll remain undamaged.

Remember, too, that those of us who are finished with this infernal process are hoping and praying for your progress almost as intensely as you are.  You're not alone, and you're never forgotten.  Take comfort and find renewed strength in this.

I was/am under the impression that once we get past this first phase of the process, they will mail my fiancé a letter with the interview date/time on it. Then she goes to the US embassy in China and does her interview, passes it and then is granted her entry visa, then we have 90 days to get married. This seems incorrect to you?

It won’t even get to that as @Villanelle rightly pointed out, hearsay like that ends up straight in the 🗑. Best thing is to block his email and enjoy your life without all that negativity

Every person who applies for a visitor visa is, by law, assumed to have the intent to enter the US and stay.  As the beneficiary of a pending fiance petition, your fiance already has immigrant intent.  That might make it difficult to overcome that assumption of intent to enter and stay.  That would be an obstacle, too.  So, the steps would be:
    1.  Apply for a B2 visa, and wait for the interview.
    2.  Prepare to convince the Consulate Officer, at the interview,  that he/she would return to home country before the end of authorized time.
Is it impossible?  Maybe...maybe not. I suspect it would require really strong ties to home country.

I am looking to be cryogenically frozen and then re-animated once this process is over. It's pretty expensive but I will save money by not buying gas for my car while I am sleeping.
