  1. Wow that’s a long time to delay! Thanks for sharing your experience. It’s so interesting cause before I was concerned about it going way too slow, but things change once a baby comes into the picture. And yes, good call on getting my CRBA info clarified and straight before we have our baby. Thanks so much. Hope everything is going well for you.
  2. Got ya, thanks so much for all the help, I really appreciate it
  3. Regarding "evidence of proof you were in the US for the required time," you mean evidence that I am a US citizen? Sorry little confused with that. And ya, our tentative plan is to move when our baby is around 6 months old, which would be around February 2024. We got our case moved to NVC December 2022. I had wanted to get everything sent out by next month so I don't have to deal with it when our baby comes. Also, to make sure we will be able to leave at that time frame (I'm always a bit paranoid of unforeseen delays) and give my employer a decent heads up on me leaving. But maybe I should hold off, in case there are any change in our timeline and also be able to have that CRBA ready.
  4. Got it. Well I better figure out what I'm doing with all of this. Difficult with the unknowns of course. Thanks for the help.
  5. Ahhh, thank you, I didn't factor in that CRBA timing actually. Didn't realize it needed to be done before the interview, but that does make sense. Was originally think to have the interview land a few weeks after our baby comes, but might have to rethink this now.
  6. Thanks. And you mean you can delay a year from when the case was received at NVC right? Or did you mean you could delay up to a year after everything is looked over by NVC and they call you in for an interview?
  7. I'm just starting the NVC process for my wife's CR1, but thinking ahead and wondering if once our case is approved and ready for an interview, how long we could delay the interview. Although we have a plan of when we want to move, we are having a baby soon and if we decide to stay longer (we live in Taiwan), could we tell them we want to wait on our interview? How far could we push it out if that's the case / is there a timeline of when we would be expected to finish up the case with the interview?
  8. Yes I do have all my paystubs and tax info for the past 3 years all set and ready. But apparently the letter of employment is irrelevant since I will not be keeping the job when I move back to the US with my wife, so I need a joint sponsor. So, good in the sense that I don't need to worry about any employment letter, bad in the sense that I have to get a joint sponsor and deal with that situation.
  9. WOW! Did not realize that. I guess I need a joint sponsor then. I don't have enough assets, nor will I have a job upon arrival to the US.
  10. For sure, sorry about that, I'm a bit slow with technology. I'll make sure I'm in the correct thread/discussion area before posting.
  11. Got it, sorry about that, couldn't figure it out at the time.
  12. got it, that's a bit annoying thanks Yup I'm in the clear then, thanks so much!
  13. I am a US citizen living and working in Taiwan with my wife and am very concerned about the letter from my employer. In Visajourney's NVC process guide, it states the following regarding letters from employers (READ RED). Note: for petitioners living and working abroad, put $0 for the question on current income (unless your income will continue, then put the amount). In either case, include an employment letter with all the details and if your job will NOT continue, make sure it is stated as such in the letter. It'd also be a good idea to mention this in the cover letter. Generally, the following is needed: With no joint sponsors: -Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal -Cover letter (optional) You can find a sample cover letter I wrote here [17] -Original completed, signed, and dated I-864 form by petitioner -Tax information^^ of petitioner (either just the last year OR the last 3 years) -Employment letter of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income) -Pay stub(s) of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income) My question Is the letter generally asked for? If so, what happens if you can not provide the letter? I don't want to ask my employer for such a letter as it would tip them off that I will be quitting my job next year (and therefor they would not renew my contract coming up in a few months). In addition, I'm not even sure they could provide a letter. My boss doesn't speak (or write) very good English at all. I will have 3 years of tax info as needed. If this letter is needed as well, I might have to find another job! VERY concerned about this. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone!
  14. I am an American citizen living abroad with my wife. We had our i-130 approved and are about to start the NVC process for the CR1. We are having a baby in in 3 months, and I want to send out all of our info for the NVC process within the next few weeks. Should I do the i-864 or the i-864w? Since our baby isn't here yet, it's a bit confusing.
  15. Does anyone know a phone number to talk to someone as NVC? Visajourney has (603) 334-0700 posted in their NVC link. Yet when I call it said that NVC has suspended this phoneline in order to focus in processing accounts. Anyone know an alternative number to contact them?
