My wife got her greencard in Oct 2023, it's good for 2 years(she got here on K-1 Visa incase anyone is wondering). Currently the processing times for I-751 are 31 Months.... Now here's where im confused, when am I supposed to apply for her renewal? Some say in 6 months before expiration but after seeing the 31 month processing times I got the application and evidence completed and ready to send now. She travels back home (India) every year and I didn't want the expired greencard being an issue when she comes back to the USA. I don't know why I didnt see this sooner but the website says I can only submit the renewal when theres only 90 days left on the expiration???

my wife is a permanent resident and it has her new name(after marriage) on the PR Card but her foreign passport still has her old pre-marriage name when we leave to depart, i know the airlines will check the passport and match it with authorized travel document, which in our case is her PR card the names will not match and im not sure if this will create an issue, she also has her state ID card and copy of the marriage certificate which shows the name change

I just got my green card and that means I can travel back to India. Since getting married my middle and last names changed, all my USA documents have my new name but the Indian Passport still has my old maiden name so my last name is different on there. When I book the flights I will use my new name but when I land in India they will obviously say the names don't match. Can I just show them my marriage certificate and the section where it shows my name change details?

The USCIS app just told me my wife's I-485 was approved. I have a few questions. 1. What happens next? Some say theres an interview, others say they will mail the Permanent Resident Card in a week? 2. Usually the I-485 takes the longest, my wife's I-765 and I-131 are still being processed, if she gets her Permanent Resident Card will she need the advance parole and work authorization still?

We only had the legal wedding where a judge marries us and have two witnesses sign. Since my husband has been very busy with work we decided to postpone our real wedding(for a lack of a better term) until next spring, not sure if I need to mention this in the letter. We live with my husbands parents so we don't have a lease or property ownership documents. All the below listed documents show our same current address though. I am submitting: State ID Card Social Security Card and letter which includes our home address. Moda Health Insurance cards and letter listing me on my husband’s health insurance plan as a dependent. Joint Bank Account Letter showing our shared checking and savings accounts. Phone Bill which lists my phone number and name as part of the family plan. Various photos of us since our marriage. Sworn affidavits of my husband’s co-worker and my husband’s parents. Certified copy of our marriage certificate(which was already sent when we first applied for AOS) We are also going to hawaii next week for vacation, should I wait after then so I can submit the hotel and flight boarding passes with the RFE response?

I have exhausted my Tourist Visa interview reschedules. I called the embassy and they said i can just cancel my interview and pay the fee again and that will allow me to schedule and reschedule my appointment 8 more times. That's fine, and I understand that but can I submit another DS-160 and schedule the appointment? Also if i do that will it affect the existing DS-160? I dont want to risk canceling the one that I already have, because with that one I already have an appointment date guaranteed. In case the new DS-160 cannot get a sooner appointment date than my original DS-160.

My Fiance came here on K-1 visa and we got married, I am mailing the I-485(Immediate Relative (Spouse) Family Based Adjustment of Status) in a few days. In the meantime, since we got married we can apply on healthcare.gov for coverage, but it is asking for her immigration status and i don't know what to put

I am applying for Immediate Relative (Spouse) Family Based Adjustment of Status I submitting in a pack Forms: I-485 , I-864 , I-765 , I-131, G-1145 and I-693(in a sealed envelope by my physician). I-131 page at https://www.uscis.gov/i-131 says its $575 if filed with I-485 But below it says it $0 if filed with I-485...

My then fiancé, now wife, came on a K-1 visa, I am sending forms I-485 as a package along with I-765, I-864, I-131 My wife's eligibility category is supposed to be (a)(6) Fiancé(e) (K-1 or K-2 nonimmigrant) or (c)(9) Pending adjustment of status under Section 245 of the Act ? It says (c)(9) is for if you have pending I-485, so does that still count if submitting as a package with the I-485?

I heard somewhere that when sending copies of supporting documents for form i-485, i-864, i-131 etc. they must be self attested with your signature and date? I've read the instructions for these forms and it says nothing about self attested not sure how strict USCIS is about copies with writing on them, do they only want copies with no writing?

We never got any DS-3025, only a sealed envelope that contained the medical report which was not to be opened by us and to be handed to the consulate staff during the K-1 interview. We called the Medical Office where we had the exam done and they said they do not hand out any forms besides the sealed envelope. I guess I will just have to have a civil surgeon in the USA do the exam and fill out the DS-3025

As stated below, we need to submit Form I-693: Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record. Not all fiances need to have this done, since you already had a medical exam in order to qualify for your K-1 visa. But if the one done for the consulate is over a year old, or it revealed a Class A medical condition for which you didn't get a waiver, you'll need to go to a U.S. civil surgeon for a new exam. And even if your exam is still good, you may need to visit a civil surgeon if the overseas doctor didn't include a complete vaccination record (DS-3025). My Fiance took the medical exam in her country prior to the K-1 interview at the consulate. She was instructed not to open the medical report and hand it directly to the consulate staff when she went in for her interview. I assuming her medical report was fine as they never mentioned anything about it and she was approved. A week later when we picked up the passport with K-1 visa, they gave a package that was not to be opened by us and we were to give it directly to the US customer and border protection agents. When we came to the US, the US customer and border protection agents, took us to a waiting room for an interview and took the packet, however they told us there is no interview and told us we could leave. We did not think anything of it and went home. Were we supposed to get a copy of the medical report or something? My fiance already did the medical exam for the consulate, it is only 2 months old. We never got a copy of it. My finace also does not have any vaccination records besides her Covid vaccine certificate.
