  1. Thank you. This is true but at this point one can only hope that this is a possibility. Technically they could not have issued me a true FX1 status on interview date as I did not meet the category at that time. I think my VO also has been on Christmas holidays during the last couple of weeks, so security clearance may now be sitting on his desk for his return (if this is the case). Lawyer will follow up next week if still no change. during interview he said he has to issue me DS5355 due to random circumstances. Then he said only answer the questions within email, do not send any attachments and do not worry about proper formatting, etc.
  2. Congrats to those that have recently been approved…finally! And to those that are still waiting like me, hang in there! My question…is it the same Visa Officer that interviewed us, that eventually finalizes the case, or does it reside with others? And if we happen to know the full name of the Visa Officer, would it be helpful to connect with them directly? I was interviewed back in November and issued DS5355 and immediately completed it. Last update to case was Dec 2. Lawyer thinks they issued this to me to stall the case as my 2 year marriage was approaching at end of Dec. my case was changed from CX1 to FX1 at interview, therefore permanent status, not conditional. can’t actually issue until that date has passed. hoping this is true. Meanwhile also in Dec my Nexus renewal application was approved for another 5 years! I know totally unrelated but still…
  3. You were in same position as I was the day before. You should receive email soon with questionnaire. I received two papers - one with the 221g refusal noting additional processing, and another one with additional verbiage that noted once they receive what they need we could expect a response in 6-8 weeks. Sounds like you had same officer as I did. Hoping for the best for you too.
  4. Hi All. Looks like I join the ranks with all of you fine people. Had my interview yesterday at Montreal Consulate. It went relatively well. Provided my original documents - marriage license, passport photo, birth certificate, police certificate and a copy of 2021 taxes. She did what she needed with them and returned the originals back. She kept my passport. she also took my fingerprints too. Second person asked me simple questions - who is your petitioner, where did you meet, what you like about your spouse, where you would live. He was friendly. He then said you have been randomly selected for additional processing. Visa refused at moment. Await email with questionnaire for completion. Once completed send it back to the email it came with (and not to attach and corresponding documents, just answer the questions). He then said would it be ok for them to hold onto my passport, so I said yes. A few hours later I received email with questionnaire. It was a DS-5355. I now read unsettling stories about it. I completed it and sent it back last evening. I have seen stories where it can take up to 60 days to review, if not much longer!!! this process has been long enough, but I have to remain optimistic. I am a Canadian citizen with no concerning background. any insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated. I do have my Nexus which I referenced in the questionnaire, but not sure if that will help expedite the process. thanks
  5. I was born here in Canada and have lived here my entire life, aside from travels - primarily to US, Caribbean and Europe (London, Paris). So I think this has to be random.
