  1. I submitted the documents for ds 260 for my spouse who is Jordanian but has been living in Turkey for 2016. We are waiting for an interview in Ankara. We were able to obtain the police certificate for Turkey showing no issues. I have indicated the document is unavailable and may be attainable at a later time. however going through the online portal for Jordan was unsuccessful AND my wife physically asked at the Jordanian embassy in Ankara to get the certificate. They said at the embassy you must only take it online. my wife owes money (something like 8-12 k dollars) in her country that her bank says is from a loan from years ago. She has a court case there and will not go to her country because she fears to be arrested and put into prison. In Jordan they still put debtors in prison. in this case what must I do? The government is demanding 400$ by (bribery) to get the certificate for us. Can I ask the NVC to waive the document in this circumstance? Is there any way around it? I know laws in the USA it is not a criminal case to owe debt nor it is liable to be sent to prison for it. I don’t know what to do. The government is not giving the certificate because of her debt and court case, other than that she has not done anything wrong and has been in turkey a long time.
  2. Hi Pushbrk you mentioned if my brother was married, well I have been married with my spouse as the petitioner and we file married filed jointly on tax returns. Do I need to fill i864a for my spouse?
  3. My brother the joint sponsor is currently not married. For some reason he doesn't have a passport or birth certificate at hand. I was born in the USA, as was my brother and my two other siblings and my parents. He has the same surname as me. What can I do? Can I write a letter or from my father explaining his children are all US citizens? Have my fathers birth certificate and mine.
  4. Ok I will be able to get a joint sponsor. Using my brother what other documents do we need for him? Is proving us citizenship and domicile only required? want to make sure everything is fine
  5. But if I go ahead and not use any joint sponsor, what is the risk? What happens if the I864 does not get accepted? Do I then have a chance to use a joint sponsor at that point, which puts the immigration process back many months or what? What would happen? I feel it is safer to wait to get a joint sponsor now rather than risk it... my assets suffered a significant loss this year, but I am still at approx. 200K total. This is over the 3x HOWEVER I dont have current income this year.
  6. My potential joint sponsors are not cooperating very well. I have excess of the required assets for my spouse which is three times required income for this cr1 visa I am a us citizen. I have three years of tax returns to add. Majority of my income is capital gains and dividends from my stock assets. I can prove all of it. My income was high (over six figures the last three years) however given the market this year, I have lost a lot and this I reported 0 income for the current year on the i864. For this reason I am a bit worried on whether this will be an issue and why I was thinking of adding joint sponsor (my parents or brother or sister) who have sufficient income for this year. Should I do the joint sponsor? Or just with me, I have sufficient assets just this current years income would be zero because of no gains on my investments this year.
  7. I’m the petitioner the i130 was approved last month we are submitting other documents for the eventual interview. My spouse is Jordanian but we live in turkey. We may not be able to renew our Turkish residence permit. In the absence of other options for the short term, is it possible to have the interview in a country where your residency is expired \ not current? or should my spouse move to her country or another one with residency and change the consulate for the interview?
  8. For Cr1 Visa my spouse is turkey requires the certificate. Our embassy is in Ankara, we were approved IR1 - i130 and now I am getting the supporting documents for the Ds 260. We use Edevlet portal which is in the instructions but there is an error message and I cannot obtain the document. Anyone else know what I can do here? https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/us-visas/Visa-Reciprocity-and-Civil-Documents-by-Country/Turkey.html I followed the instructions here to use Edevlet. this is the error message "Your transaction could not be completed due to a technical glitch in the system."
