  1. Hi everyone. A friend of mine isn't apart of VJ but is facing some issues and wanted to see if there was any insight here to help her. She got married in the UAE and has an official marriage license in Arabic with English translation. The document is issued by the court and has all the official stamps on it. NCV's response every time is "Please replace this with an acceptable marriage certificate from a correct issuing authority." What does this mean? It's been rejected 3 times. Is it because there is no sworn statement from the translator and just an official stamp? Thanks!
  2. Thanks everyone! My last question is, what about the original I-824 that my parents signed? Can I just print the uploaded one?
  3. Hi guys, I got DQed a few days ago. I'm wondering about original documents for the interview and what you can actually have print outs of. I have a joint sponsor and household member (my parents). I live outside of the US with my husband (the applicant). 1) Do I need the actual passports and marriage license (proof of US citizenship & their relationship to each other) of my parents? What about their original tax returns? 2) Can I print out my tax transcripts or does it need to be the original tax return? 3) The police clearances the petitioner obtained are digital. Is that fine to print out? 4) How do you find out how long it's taking your embassy (Abu Dhabi) to schedule interviews? Thanks!
  4. I'm really struggling and need some guidance: 1) How to get documents to 2MB to upload at the NVC stage? I've compressed my tax return multiple times and it's still 2.4MB and gets rejected when I try to upload it. 2) How do you edit the entire I-864? There are certain sections where I can't type, even after downloading. Do I just write that part in pen? 3) After everything is submitted to the NVC, how long does it take them to review the documents? Thanks!
  5. I am filling out I-864. I live overseas and work overseas and get paid in local currency. For my annual income, should I put zero? Should I put zero for my spouse too even though he contributes to the household? Thanks!
  6. Thought to share our experience. Husband had a B1/B2 tourist visa interview scheduled in March in Singapore. He wanted to come visit me since I just gave birth to our daughter. We disclosed on the application that we had applied for CR1. At the interview, officer asked about the CR1 application and my husband shared that it was under process. Officer asked questions about our marriage/how we met/where we live. Application was approved granted we email a few additional documents. We sent the documents and he received the visa a few days later. He flew to the US the next day after receiving the visa. Entered the US in SF, officer just asked where he was coming from, how long he was here and purpose of his visit. So you can get a visit visa even if you applied for CR1!
  7. Hi everyone, In October 2022, I sent a letter to the California Service Center notifying them that we were withdrawing our K1 application. We decided to get married instead and go the CR1 route. Well our K1 case got approved anyways and was sent to the NVC. In November 2022, we applied for CR1 and I included the same letter withdrawing the K1 with our application. Well, I thought this was all over with but got a message from the NVC today with our K1 case number and next steps. What do I now? How do I officially stop this K1 visa? We are already married and are waiting for the CR1. Thanks for your help!
  8. Submitted my case last week and logged into my online account today. I was able to access my receipt notice. Is this the same one that gets sent in the mail and actually the NOA1? I'm overseas so was excited to see it digitally. In the bottom left hand corner of the notice, it lists the Potomac Service Center right across from the barcode. Is this where my case ended up or is this just the standard address listed? Also, my case processing time on the website with my profile says 5 months until a decision will be made. Is this really accurate?! Thanks!
