I (US citizen) applied for an IR1 visa for my wife (non US citizen). She got documentarily qualified over three months ago by NVC. The email said they would work with the US consulate in Lagos to schedule an interview and they would let us know.
We still haven't heard anything since then. I've been reading some stuff about a huge backlog at the US consulate in Lagos regarding interviews. I'm considering applying for our case to be rescheduled l expedited.
Our kids are US citizens but they are with her. They cannot be here with me in the US as there will be no one to take care of them while I work. My wife is also unable to work in Nigeria as she is by herself and there is no one to look after the kids if she goes to work.
Can I apply for an expedited interview on this basis because honestly, we need to be together as a family. I hate being away from my wife and kids and vice versa. I would also like our kids to start preschool here soon and that's impossible without my wife being here. I appreciate your advice.
