I used Wise. Easy interface and low fees. Comes with a debit card too, as well as the ability to convert into a tonne of other currencies if ever needed. As for the UK residency part of closing accounts, I think many members here still maintain theirs. It’s not like they ask when you leave, and it is necessary for tying up loose ends etc

Does your phone run an eSIM? Better yet does it run two esims? Personally I wouldn’t rely on Mint in the UK - I am a Mint customer and have never got the data to work when I am abroad. Your mileage may vary as I am pretty rural in the UK. If you can run an eSIM, I’d recommend Gigsky or Nomad for data only roaming esims. Both me and my wife have used those when abroad. I don’t know how their cost compares to Mint. Or if you can run two esims, get yourself a GiffGaff eSIM when you are back. Easily enough data for a £10 top up. This is what I do now.

Use Of Advance Parole Whilst AOS
P055UM replied to Cisse913's topic in Working & Traveling During US Immigration
I wouldn’t worry. AP is a valid document to travel with. The risk of anything going wrong is low, and anything weird that did happen would be fixable. FYI: AP can take a long time to arrive after filing. Hopefully yours will be quick. -

All good advice above. Maybe check your local credit union too. I was able to get a ‘secured’ credit card. Basically you lodge cash with the bank and they extend you a credit card with a limit equal to the cash you lodged. I was able to do this with no income of my own. Another great way to build credit

I don't have a specific answer, but you're going to need to look at the laws of that state that you are planning on living in. Gambling is regulated at a state level and the laws in the US are therefore a patchwork. Remember, if you decide to keep them, interest earned will be taxable in the US even though it isn't in the UK. I imagine that you would also need to report them on your FBAR return each year.

Thanks, I was leaning this way. The other thing in my mind was upsetting someone having to scan in like 100 pages of Amex fee statements. I guess you can’t win either way!- 127 replies

What are people’s thoughts on the completeness of documents you send? Eg. If a bank statement has ‘page 1/10, 2/10’ etc printed right on it, should you include all 10 pages even if some of them aren’t relevant? Trying to balance sending useless paper with them worrying I am hiding something.- 127 replies

Good advice. Yes I was aware it really only works if they are with other people, which is an interesting change from K-1 where photos together are totally fine. Nevertheless, I'll try and cobble together as many as possible. I wish we were people who took photos as a habit, but we just aren't.- 127 replies

How many photographs are you guys including? We aren't really big photo people. I was thinking around 6-8.- 127 replies

February 2024 is finally here! Will be filing to remove conditions towards the end of the month! Good luck to all those in a similar position! May we all be blessed with a smooth and RFE-free (even if long) journey!
