Last Thursday I contacted my congressman's office. This morning I got a phone call form his office and they said because administrative processing is a "mandatory security check" there is nothing they can do to help. Disappointing. The only reason that we are going through additional security check is because she is Iranian. This is profiling and discrimination based on nationality. She had no control over what country she was born in. This is very messed up and unfair.

Hello, my fiance's K1 visa case has also ended up with DS 5535 and administrative processing. We are very worried about the possibility of waiting in limbo for many months. Since submission of DS 5535 on May 5, 2023 our case has been updated only once. I am in the process of contacting my local congressman and senators. I am also considering filing WOM after 6 months if AP isn't resolved. Just a nightmarish and depressing stage of my life at the moment.

Hey thanks for the update. My case has only been updated once since the initial refusal. It was 3 days after submitting the DS 5535. I'm checking the CEAC portal daily hoping for a miracle.

Hi, it was light blue. It said that the visa has been "refused" and it requires administrative processing which could take several months. We got an email with DS 5535 the next morning. Do different colors of 221g mean different things? 🤔

Interesting. Thanks so much for the response. I will definitely consider WoM past the 6 months mark. Really hoping it doesn't come to that. In the meantime I will contact my local congressman. Even if it doesn't do anything, still better than doing nothing I guess.

Hello, I read on another thread that filing WoM will force a decision and might cause your case to be denied if the background check is not completed. Is that true? If true, filing WoM would be extremely risky.

Hello, sorry you’re going through this too. They told us it can take “many months”. They did not give us the option to expedite. They were very apathetic to our situation and did not care at all. I had also purchased plane tickets to the US for me and my fiancé for this Friday. We had also reserved a wedding venue for July 1st (we thought wedding plans would strengthen our case for the interview). I can understand the need for background checks but I can’t wrap my head around waiting an unspecified amount of time. This is literal torture.

"The immigrant" (my fiance) filled out the form and I was with her. We are both in Abu Dhabi at the moment. I didn't want to go into details of how the form was filled because that wasn't relevant to my question of the post.

Never mind, I sent an email to the embassy requesting to make the correction. This was at the recommendation of embassy employee.

Hello, I just realized I put @yahoo.com instead of @gmail.com for my fiance's email address on the DS 5535 form. How do I go about fixing ths? Do I make another submission with the correct domain name? Thanks.

Funny thing is that the interviewer told my fiance at the end of the interview "I'm going to send you an email tomorrow. I hope I'll have some good news" and then the DS 5535 was sent next morning. I don't know if it was his good news or bad news. I'm tired of all of these mind games and lack of transparency. And why he didn't want to look at the I-134 form? How else are they going to verify I can financially support her? Why didn't he want to see evidence of relationship? He actually chuckled at my fiance when he saw all the documents that we brought with us. What an absolute joke this whole thing is.

Thank you for sharing that and sorry you're going through this too. I submitted the DS 5535 and when I go back to the US I will hire an immigration lawyer for consultation. I feel like my brain is fried.

I'm sorry but I just can't accept that. They had 637 days to investigate my fiance in every shape and form required. DS 5535 and DS 160 are both about the beneficiary. They are almost identical (questions about social media presence, previous addresses, employers etc.). So why is there a need to answer the same questions again? I can't justify it to myself.

My fiance had her interview at the Abu Dhabi US embassy yesterday. They refused her visa for no apparent reason. The interviewer gave her a sheet that our case requires "administrative processing" and may take several months. They did not ask for any evidence of relationship, I-134 form, W2 forms, or the any financial support documents even though we had all of those with us! We are utterly devastated because we waited 637 for an interview date and we planned the wedding and we were not expecting having to wait more months. This morning they sent me (petitioner) to fill out DS-5535. The questions in DS-5535 are almost the same as DS-160 which we filled out like 3 months ago. I don't know what to expect after this. Does anybody know how much longer we would need to wait?

Hello everyone. Our K1 visa interview is in 3 weeks. I was laid off from my full-time job back in Feb, 2023 due to business shutting down. I found another part time position a week later. Last Monday my employment status was changed from part time to full time at my new job. I will be providing my last 4 pay stubs and 2022 W2 forms and tax returns but only the very last pay stub will reflect full time status at my new job. Will this become an issue during the interview? I'm concerned they won't like too many financial related changes. Thank you.

Hello, I called the clinic in Abu Dhabi and inquired about how long it would take to get the results. They said it could take up to 10 working days. I called the clinic in Dubai and they said it could take up to 14 working days. However, the Dubai clinic has an option to expedite! If you pay extra, they will have the results ready in 3-5 days.

Hello, My fiance's visa interview is in Abu Dhabi, UAE. We need to have a medical examination in New Medical Center Hospital. My question is: how long does it typically take for the results to be ready? 😕 My fiance is flying from Iran and I'm flying from Texas to be with her so we don't want her to miss her visa interview because the medical exam results aren't ready. We waited almost 2 years for this and missing the interview date cannot be an option! How many days before the interview should we do the medical exam to be on the safe side? Thanks!

If I remember correctly, there is an explanation to the right that says they need the 13 digit USCIS case number.
