Received an email from the Dublin embassy on October 3rd with Packet 3 (k1 visa).

In it says to make a medical appointment first- called Mater and was informed next medical appointment isn't until Nov. 30th. Is there any way to expedite this? Perhaps a wait list if there is a cancellation?

Also about how long after embassy is notified of readiness is the interview?

    Thanks everyone!

I think the best you can do is call daily to check for cancellations

    Hi,

If anyone can help me with the timeline, my visa was issued on the 4th October, but I am yet to here from the embassy with a tracking number. How long could that take as I was hoping to travel at the end of next week?

    Thanks in advance

From what I have seen around here, it is between 5-10 working days from approval to receipt

Quick question - do we have to bring along the previously completed original I130 forms (from USCIS stage) to the interview as well? We submitted everything online through rapid visa so we no longer have the actual forms that were scanned and submitted by RV. It wasn't mentioned to specifically bring them, but it does say to bring completed application forms? I'm a little confused. Any help would be hugely appreciated!

This was a long time ago, my memory might not be correct. But I think we already sent in original documents with the i130?

I believe the only necessary documents to bring are the originals of documents submitted through NVC

Wow, Thats Pretty frustrating! Did you only figure that out once you got there?

My Medical is October 6th. Hopefully Have a date by then or I'll need to reschedule!

Yep turned me away once I got there for the appointment.

I am hoping we will be scheduled by end of September.... but I have been disappointed plenty of times already by this process!

Did you hear anything back yet?

We DQ'd Aug 10th which has been 6 weeks now and haven't hear anything as of yet. is anyone else in the same boat?

Yep same here, only a few days ahead of you.

Pretty annoyed because they would not do my medical at the Mater! They wanted to have my interview appointment first

Thanks for the update! Do you know what the current timeframe is approx? Even a ball park? :)

Yeah I saw that timeline previously too but that's almost 3 months ago now. Perhaps the timeframe has changed. If I don't receive anything by Friday I may contact them.

Any luck with your interview yet? Nothing yet from me of course...

In the London forum there doesn't seem to be any consistency. Some people wait 3 weeks, some 6+. Maybe they go out in batches (let's hope by end of Aug!). Discussion is that student visas created a backlog

We DQ'd July 20th and no word from the embassy yet. It's pretty much been almost a month. Has anyone got an interview recently and how long did it take to receive it after being DQ'd?

Well, that's horrifying. Basically I was working from this person's timeline in a previous post:

"My family member was DQd 5/26, and we received confirmation of an interview appointment date on 6/6 for 7/28"

If I were in your shoes (and I might be soon...), I would be trying my best to contact the embassy. Please keep us updated!

    Edit: maybe through here?

    Hi Guys,

just spent the morning reading through the thread.

We were DQ'ed yesterday. I booked medical appointment with visa center at the matter private yesterday, We got a date of 6/10/2022. has anyone in the past couple of weeks received a date for interview?

I just want to have a rough idea of how long it takes from this point. and also see do I need to contact Matter Private to try and look for cancellations on a daily basis?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

    Thanks!! :)

Hi There! From what I have read it appears to be approx 10 days to receive the letter with interview date. And I have seen people with approx 2 months from DQ date to interview date. Though this is very small sample size from reading this forum. I DQ'd last week. Currently at 7 working days since DQ and no letter from the embassy as yet

Congratulations! Glad it went well. Hopefully you can sort out the name thing pretty easily.

My husband had his interview and we were refused because my proof of domicile wasn't good enough (we both live here in Ireland together). I had a letter from my parents stating that we would be living with them when we move, but it it wasn't notarized so it was rejected and he was given his passport back. My parents got the letter notarized and I submitted it along with other evidence (US voting records, US bank account, US investments, etc), it was accepted, and now we have our visa in hand. Overall, the process was really smooth and quick. Here is a timeline for anyone interested:

Documentarily approved by NVC: September 3

    Given interview date: September 24

    Medical: October 5

Interview: October 7 (asked for additional documents)

    Uploaded additional documents: October 7

Posted passport to embassy: October 12

Status updated to issued: October 15

    Received tracking email: October 18

Passport with visa delivered: October 19

Great to see the quick timeline!

Question for you: Did you provide proof that you are currently domiciled in the US or rather that you intend to re-establish domicile?

  8. Myself and US citizen spouse have been living outside the US together for the last 4 years. We are using a joint sponsor I-864 as all of our income is foreign sourced.

When my wife fills out I-864, what do we write in Part 5, 7 "? "My individual annual income is" Do we list the USD amount as per tax returns or should this just be nil as it is all foreign income?

Just got a email and now my husbands proof of domicile isn't enough for them.  We have sent rent agreement, job offer and multiple other paperwork to prove he will be living and working there and its not enough for them.

How did you get around this? That sounds like an unreasonably high bar...

We were intending to use: "3. You intend in good faith to reestablish your domicile in the United States no later than the date of the intending immigrant's admission or adjustment of status"

Hi. So apparently wait time to be scheduled for interview at the embassy in Sweden (which has jurisdiction over Denmark) is over a year after getting DQ at NVC.

We are a Danish foreigner married to American citizen living in Denmark. Do we have any options for transferring embassies to anywhere else, or are we out of luck?

Where did you find the estimate for interview time? Does the embassy publish it?

    Hi team,

Okay so my questions is, when assessing adequate means of financial support, is current income the only factor or can you make a claim based on net savings and assets?

My husband and I currently both live in NZ (beneficiary's home country) with full time incomes (both well over the $21,677 income requirement) - we will make moves to start looking for work in the U.S. before heading over but would like to move as soon as possible regardless of job security. We have healthy savings and we've also discussed taking our time to find new employment and maybe doing a bit of traveling around the U.S. before settling back into the ole 9 to 5. We are confident we can sustain ourselves through an unemployment gap and I'm not really looking to leave my husband to go secure work in the U.S. before he can join me.. so... thoughts?? If this is our plan (to potentially go over jobless and look for work after we've arrived) will we definitely have to get a joint sponsor or is there a way to prove self sufficiency with other financial evidence outside of current income. Seems silly to have to rely on joint sponsorship with plenty to keep ourselves afloat but I'm unsure how immigration will look at it.

Note: We are still waiting for I-130 approval (lodged Feb 2021) so have not begun filling out I-864, it's just been one of my worries and I wanted to get some thoughts now.

    Cheers

I had a similar question here. There was some good advice which recommended to file the form online based on assets, but bring a joint sponsor form to the interview as a backup. This is how we intend to approach it

    Yes.

NVC may send you an email stating that you may not qualify and that it is ultimately up to the decision by the embassy.  As long as it is just a warning message and not a hard requirement for you to submit a joint sponsor, you are good to go.  The wording will be "suggest you submit a joint sponsor" versus you being required to submit a joint sponsor.  The goal is to get documentarily qualified at NVC in order to progress to the embassy stage.

That is very helpful information, thank you!

I suggest you get a joint sponsor lined up and bring their I-864 to the interview.  If the CO tells you you need a joint sponsor, you can hand it over right away.  If the CO says you're ok or doesn't mention it, then don't volunteer it and instead take it home and rip it up.

Thank you for your response. Just to clarify - in the online portal I would only upload a single I-864 completed by my wife using our assets. I would then bring a second I-864 completed by a joint sponsor to the interview, and only present if required?

  14. Looking for opinion on what to do in our situation.

Wife (US) and I (IE) have been living in Ireland for 3+ years since being married. We are about to file our I-864.

Currently we each earn around ~70k USD from employment in Ireland, but as this is all foreign source income it can not be used for form I-864. We would prefer to NOT have to use a joint sponsor as it is quite a big commitment, but it is possible for us if truly required.

    Our assets look like this:

Net property value ~40k USD. Last appraised <2 years ago so it should reasonably accurate.

    Stocks and bonds ~20k USD

    Cash ~ 31k USD

Taxes owed from student loans ~(16k) USD - note: this is payable as a % of income. If I earn below ~40k USD I am not required to make ANY payment. I am not sure if it is a requirement to include this, but I so far include in all my calculations to take a conservative approach.

There is also a car worth approx 5-6k USD which we will sell when we leave Ireland, but we do not include as per the guidelines.

So in total we will have approx. 75k when we submit the form in 2 months time. Total required for lower 48 is 17,420 * 1.25 * 3 = 65,325

What is your opinion on our situation - do we have enough to be in the clear at time of submission? Is a joint sponsor preferred or will we be ok with this level of assets? (We could also potentially delay the application another 2 months to save another 8-10k.)

Bonus question - does it matter who is holding the assets, the applicant vs the petitioner/sponsor?
