My husband just went for his interview last week. We had already mailed in all the originals, that we would have sent to the NVC a few weeks before we got the invitation for the interview/ and request to schedule medical exam. I made a whole filing folder with paperwork for my husband to bring. I had doubles of most originals, so I sent them again. They didn't ask him for a single document when he did his interview. He got his approval two days later.

That's great! Congratulations. Yeah I asked the consulate and they said we didn't need anything besides the fee and my husband's passport!

What exactly do you need to bring to the interview? On the email so schedule an appointment it doesn't have any details and I'm not sure.

My visa was also issued today, taking 10 weeks from start-to-finish!

First, about the interview at the Frankfurt Consulate: Come early, about 45 min before your appointment. Leave all electronics in your car. First queue at the entrance to the left to get a waiting number. Then queue at the security guard to the right to confirm that you don't have any electronics. Then queue at the security check entrance. Once you're inside queue for the cashiers' booth 22. You'll pay 325USD (or 277EUR on that day -- which was 5EUR more than the exchange rate), also they don't take EC/Giro cards!

After that you'll be called upon twice, either by number OR by name, so don't rely on the monitors, it might happen that your number isn't shown! First time is basic personal information check, if address is current etc. Second time is the interview with the consular officer. You'll first be sworn in, then you'll be asked questions depending on your case. All in the all, the entire process from entering the Consulate to leaving took about 90 minutes.

On CEAC (https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=IV), your status will be 'REFUSED' and stay so, even after the interview. Don't be alarmed, this is standard. Once your medical comes in, it will move into 'ADMINISTRATIVE PROCESSING'. A few hours later it will be 'ISSUED'.

Thanks for the journey everyone, see you in 2 years for removing conditions on the CR1. Congrats to everyone else who also got theirs!

  3. On the I-1864a it asks for my parents total income (adjusted gross income on IRS form 1040EZ) as reported on my Federal income tax returns for the 3 most recent years,

my parents file jointly I believe and they don't have the 1040EZ, I have the numbers for their combined total and adjusted income, is that okay? I have never filed for myself and I'm not sure if they want the total or the adjusted since it says both in the instructions?

  4. does anyone know if for this:

Proof of U.S. federal income tax returns: The most recent IRS-generated transcript of the most recent U.S. Federal Income Tax Return (1040) and W2s are required from all U.S. citizen sponsors/ joint sponsors. A person may obtain a free IRS-generated transcript by filing IRS Form 4506-T (Form IRS-4506-T) with IRS, Request for transcript of Tax Return.

K-visa applicants may present their petitioner’s Transcript of Tax Return, or their own assets as proof.

Can my sponsor just scan them to me? or does it have to be original??

Contact them and get permission to file directly.  It is their discretion, but it sounds like you have a good case, although your time is short.  You might have to leave after starting the process there.  Once the case is properly filed, you can return to the US while your spouse stays for the interview, etc.

Thank you! I sent them an email and they accepted my exceptional circumstance. I just sent the i 130 and the rest of the supporting documents yesterday. If that gets approved do you think I can go back or do I need to stay still? I know there are other packages that need to be sent, but my husband can obviously do that if I'm already gone I thought?

    Hey there,

anyone else file their I-130 IR1/CR1 in Frankfurt as a DCF (exceptional circumstances)? It's really difficult to find timelines of others who are in a similar position. We're hoping to receive the visa within 3-4 months. Any advice from those who are further along in their journey?

For others who are looking to request an exception to file directly in Frankfurt: The e-mail addresses listed on the USCIS and Consulate websites are NOT correct. You'll want to contact frnuscisinquiries@state.gov with proof of the exceptional circumstance. A reply will take about 2 weeks.

    Cheers!

Hey! I am just starting the  DCF process and was wondering what you wrote as the subject when you sent your email? I know they can be picky on other government emails and I don't want to waste any time by sending something they won't look at.

    Thanks!

  7. Hi everyone!

My husband (German) and I (American) have been living together in Germany for the past 4 years. I have received a job offer back home starting Dec. 8th. I am not sure where to start with the DCF process? Do I have to email them first asking if I would be a viable candidate or can I just send the I-130 and my contract to the consulate already? Several e-mails I have tried come back with a 'failure to deliver' receipt.

I appreciate any help I can get! I'm a little worried I won't get everything done in time.

    Thanks again!

  8. Hi again!

sorry to keep asking questions, I just want to make sure everything goes as smoothly as possible.

My mom has her own small business and will train me to take over and pass the business on to me. What do I need from her to show the job offer is real?

Is it a problem if my mom and dad are also joint sponsors for my husband?

Thank you guys for being so patient and helpful.

  9. Hi Everyone,

Long story but my husband and I (US citizen) live in Germany. We were planning to apply through for the regular spousal visa through USCIS, but I just stumbled upon DCF a few days ago and it would be amazing to get to the US quicker.

I know it says a job offer would qualify as an exceptional circumstance, but does it matter that I'm here on a student visa and don't have enough assets of my own? My parents would be our joint sponsors for the Affidavit of support.

I don't have a job offer yet, but if it seems like a viable option I will and try to make this route happen.

    Thank you for any help.
